After the failure to raise the first egg sac from my jumping spider I'm hoping the 2nd clutch is more successful as I have some ideas on how to give them the best chance of survival!

I have a phidippus audax female, and they are basically the same as far as breeding. I left the babies with the mom until they came out on their own, and put the entire enclosure into a 10 gallon with some fine mesh fabric over the top when they started to escape and just collected them as they came out of the air holes. It took about 5 days for all of them to finally come out, about 20-40 at a time, and always around the middle of the day, then the rest would settle in for the night and not move. It was actually pretty simple to catch them all this way because they are so predictable. They all went straight for the top and not a single one stayed inside the original enclosure or hid. They were able to eat flightless fruit flies right away. So far I have 128 surviving babies (one died shortly after coming out), and the mom already laid more eggs in the hammock before they were all the way out. I'm sure I will have a few losses, but they do really well staying with the mom for as long as possible.

Thank you for the advice this is actually really helpful! I had another clutch which seemed to be doing well after i left them with momma as long as possible before separating them into pots. Recently though i started to lose some but i think i had left it too long until i gave them fruit flies as now ive given them food the remaining slings seem to be doing great so fingers crossed. Next time i will give them some food as soon as they start exploring, seems like that might be the key!

Aww, it's so sweet to see how much empathy you have for these little critters. Hopefully many babies will grow up big and strong in your care! Good luck! 😊

Small fruit flys will be the best option, I have had a baby jumping spider, the cup that you are going to use is good just dampan the towel it's all good

They're so tiny, maybe they died because they didn't get enough food that was small enough for them.

I painstakingly separated them off today into some different pots, there's about 50! You're welcome to some if you want em, will see how many survive!
