The hazmat tone you hear is ASC's Fire tone. It's basically a more stretched out attack signal. After the test is done, the system is polled for each sirens status.
Gotta love the sentry! I wonder why and when did Porter county decided to be like LaPorte and switch to FSK. I really miss their good old DTMF triple activations
Beautiful recordings of the signal, its called Compulert and was developed by American Signal Corporation. There is an encoder modelled CSC-960 that generates the FSK signals heard, decoded by a special receiver on the siren's end.
NOAA radios are totally separate from this handheld, and this radio in the video (a baofeng uv-5r) is not all that special, just a basic analog transceiver with the dispatch frequency programmed in. It’s also illegal to transmit but not to listen
Is there a way to decode these transmissions to see what these tones are communicating? Or is that something that is limited information? Im curious because if you can decode those tones and see what they're trying to transmit, Id love to see whats happening in my area. Just recently got into radio technology and ive been really interested in all this stuff
@@seanjuth run again you can actually decode it by simply recording it and replaying it and it would actually activate those sirens it's easy to do it in Loop mode
How do you find the frequencys where the tones are broadcasted to activate the sirens? I do have a scanner, and I can receive frequencies from 108-199 and 400-512. The scanner is a Uniden SR30C.
The best way to get your frequencys in your county is radioreference, also its a Baofang but IDK the model number but it could possibly be a UV-5R (I have this model)
@@novawarningsirens Oh, I didnt know, I got that UV-5R for my bday but thanks for letting me know about this, im still trying to confirm what channels has the FSK activation for my county. I will look into this
Those DTMF tones that you heard that sounded like a phone dialing at the end it was the pound of symbol that went through six times and then it dialed 12 so that basically knows that I know how to decode that shit so anybody could set that shit off and it's using that compulert system which is why you were hearing those squeals and whatnot prior to the DTMF on the VHF repeater system
