I totally agree some genres ust work for you at certain points in your life. Romance was always my go-to palette cleanser. I couldn't gel with mysteries. Now that has totally flipped. I have discovered Had Case Crime books and I haven't been able to make a romance work for a few years. Christina Lauren was an auto read author for me. All of their books have witty banter and better than average characterization. Some of their series have good "ensemble casts" that elevates a whole series.

I have to see if I have read Christina Laurent yet. I need to check her out if not.

I happened to read Funny Story while I was vacationing in Michigan in the exact area where to book is based. It made me love it that much more. I’d be completely up for reading more books in that series.

I love your idea of Funny Story turning into a series! It probably won't happen, but I would definitely be into spending more time with those characters in that setting. Like you, I don't generally take to romance, but I've enjoyed several of Emily Henry's books. I already have The Paradise Problem on hold at my library and who knows, maybe I'll like that one too.. I have read a romance "series" set around the yearly Renaissance Fairs a smallish town puts on that I enjoyed a lot--the first book is Well Met and the series is by Jen DeLuca. They all involve family and friends as well as romance.

I just finished We Used To Live Here…gave it 5 stars on Goodreads! I feel like the ending is open to interpretation. The cryptic Morse code at the end of each DOC/Interview was unique! I waited til I finished the book to Google a Morse Code Translator to find out what each one said! 😮 Real phenomena like Capgras Delusion…sleep paralysis…Mandela Syndrome and Pareidolia were all mentioned and incorporated in the story. Even though it was creepy and eerie I would categorize it as a psychological thriller rather than horror… it didn’t keep me up at night! Lol
