My finger was so going to click that sub button...until you said you don't ride in a helmet. You're right, that is your decision, but, unfortunately, I don't really want to see you ride without a helmet. Good luck with the pony and YT!
EQceptional Equine It's by the brand Big D and it's called the hunt seat saddle case. Here's a link to one I just found: www.marystack.com/big-d-hunt-seat-saddle-case.html
That's strict! In a western pleasure class you wear a hat and in hunter under saddle, hunt caps specifically say they are not for protection so at home it just doesn't seem like a huge necessity... Unless you don't feel confident on the horse. That's why I don't. (:
Hannahloves Hens it's only illegal if you're under 14, after that, if you're riding at home or hacking , you can decide whether you want to wear one or not. Only compulsory at shows and fun rides and things then, riding schools and trekking centers make you wear one for insurance reasons xxx
omg i love your videos!! first really nice horse youtuber ive seen i think :p i really love the idea of tack hauls! i feel like I should start doing this too lol
Sorry, but despite your age, you're obviously not old enough to decide whether or not you need a helmet. You ALWAYS need a helmet. You could have the most calm, bomb-proof horse in the world, and only do light pleasure riding, and I would still say the same thing. You always need a helmet if you're on a horse.
+cirice But that's up to her and/or her parents. It's an opinionated thing, because of the fact that riding is already an extremely dangerous sport, and some people feel that it won't do enough just to have head protection. It's not only that, just an example of an opinion i've heard. Just don't tell people what to do, it's rude especially when she made a "disclaimer" in the video already.
Equine Lifestyle By telling me not to tell someone to do something, you are, in turn, telling someone what to do. Of course I'm going to tell someone to do something if it's in their best interest in safety. One of my close friends had a particularly bad fall off a horse last year, the doctors told her that had she not been wearing a helmet, she would be permanently incapacitated, or possibly, dead. So wearing a helmet should NOT be an opinionated thing.
Equine Lifestyle Who am I to tell someone it's not their decision? Someone who knows what they're talking about, obviously. Also, don't stick my nose where it doesn't belong? She made a video stating that she won't wear a helmet riding. I'm in the comment section of that video. So your statement is invalid. Choosing to be dangerous and make a stupid decision should NEVER be an opinionated thing.
+cirice she can choose to wear a helmet or not:) if she gets a injury it's not your fault and is her choice so don't try to put your opinion on Someone else :)
In pleasure riding do you keep your hair in a hair net tucked up into a helmet/hunt cap for English? I was just wondering because the hunt cap fits like it wouldn't.
This is the first video I see from your channel so I don't know if you changed this but please use your helmet it is very important. In my last riding class I fell of the hose and my helmet protected me. If you don't have one on it is very dangerous. I know sometimes it is not pretty to use one but protection is first
I'm only able to access western where I live and I really want to do jumping thoroughbreds or oldenburgs cost too much so I'm planning on buying a quarter horse and teaching it to jump any tips on jumping (I've never jumped ;)
Also, I TOTALLY understand what you are saying about the helmet controversy b/c I do pleasure horses, as well. I personally usually always wear helmet unless I'm showing, but in our discipline most people simply don't wear helmets.
BridlePaths Exactly! Like helmets just aren't something that pleasure people stress and people are so quick to judge if you're not wearing one. Even in our classes hunt caps specifically say they are not for protection and western is just a hat. I definitely understand for jumping. Thanks!
If you are looking for a cheap helmet I would not go for the trowel because I got one and I dropped on the ground and it broke down the middle but I would get and ovation that are like 50 dollars. No hate just a suggestion
And your super pretty and those people who say your not pretty are wrong from Ivianna.💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👈👈👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
If you want to be in the horse world be ready to watch people do things you don't agree with and be sescesful. If you can't handle someone not wearing a helmet then don't leave your house with your horse and plan to enjoy yourself
+Mia Schumann It's the style. Same thing as why would anyone need to wear a western hat if it doesn't provide protection? I will say they are less popular nowadays. (:
+Amber Poeppel ... You said you don't ride with a helmet because you don't jump or ride English and only ride Western, implying that horses that are ridden with Western tack (or those that don't jump or ride with English tack) won't ever spook, or jump sideways, or buck or rear.
bro I'm a roper and I wear a helmet hat you can mess you head up so bad it would suck for you to be impaired and know that 100$ on a good helmet could have stoped that even stetson makes a helmet
I realise this video is old, but I wanted to comment about the helmet thing. Of course you can decide for yourself, but it is a selfish thing to do. I assume you have a family. They are the ones left to take care of you when you have a fall and get brain damage from not wearing a helmet, they are the ones that has to pay medical bills and maybe pay for a care facility. Your head is the most vital thing to protect.
M B Equestrian okay but what about your chest? What if you fly backwards and the horse kicks you in your chest? That could break ribs and if not kill you. Same as if your on the ground grooming your horse? They could kick and break one of your legs. It’s not just your head that’s important. I don’t get why people say “I get it’s your choice but..” if it’s her choice just leave it at that, she’s not your daughter, friend, sister etc. let her do what she wants to do. There’s more ways than one to get hurt on a horse. And if she trusts the horse enough not to wear a helmet cootos to her.
