Hype. Hype. Hype. Now that I've hyped Changes, we can move onto how excited to hear about those Sci-Fi books. The blurbs your read got me interested. Also, I would hype Changes more but you've heard it enough by now. I'm just looking forward for your spoiler-full vlog of Changes. Can't wait.
Cool to see, definitely positive feedback for the video!! Would love to see you do more than just the usual review for Changes - it definitely warrants it IMO. Chronicling your reading and getting more live reactions feels perfect, but whatever you can manage would be amazing!
Dude.... I feel like you should film a timelapse of yourself reading the last part of changes. I wish I had that of myself, I'm certain it would be entertaining. Also, can't wait for the video on that one!
Merphy, first, love your work, second, haver you read the Princess Bride? I didn't find a video for it on the channel. Is a personal favorite, and a very short one, that I find to be underestimated, but maybe you'd like to give it a shot?
Consider listening to Changes on audiobook. James Marsters is brilliant, and he really hits this particular book out of the park. Don't listen to it while driving. It's hard to drive and cry at the same time. Marsters got so into it that he needed to call for breaks after certain scenes.
I don't know how often you listen to audio books, but as a Dresden super fan, I'd recommend listening to James Marsters narration for this one. It's worth it.
I'm 90% through The Tainted Cup that you recommended in a recent book vlog. That detective story with the "plant-punk" world has been really entertaining. Thank you Merphy!
you've probably seen this comment multiple times, and it might hint at spoilers but it'll probably be really fun content to record yourself reading changes, and at the very least the opening couple pages out loud. Multiple reviewers have done it and for someone who has been following through the series it really underlines the title of the book.
I cannot wait till you start Toll of the Hounds. I had written a song encouraging you but my comment was deleted. Anyway I am anxious to hear your reviews on your TBR. Great job.
I have pushed “The Dragonbone Chair" by Ted Williams (Memory, Sorrow & Thorn #1, Epic Fantasy) to June, and will continue on with book #2, “Stone of Farewell”. Next on my June TBR, I have “A Brightness Long Ago” by Guy Gavriel Kay (Historical Fantasy inspired by Renaissance Italy) and “The Darkness That Comes Before” (Prince of Nothing Trilogy #1, Dark/Epic Fantasy inspired by the Crusades and I heard it described as “if Frank Herbert of “Dune” fame, had written Joe Abercrombie’s “First Law” trilogy”…).
Hi Merphy, based your on recent sci-fi read I'll leave my recomm. for a book you might enjoy. It's a classic from the 80's by Bruce Sterling called Schismatrix Plus which is a very often overlooked work that helped define its genre and was influential for many younger authors. Look it up and let me know if it piques your interest. Have a good one!
I will try Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Star ⭐️ I have heard it referenced so many times in my life. Personal opinion, BRIDE was trash 🗑️. But if you enjoy it I will be happy to hear your review because your channel is always a joy 😁!
You know, folks called Southern Reach weird and I didn't think it weird. It just seemed a natural consequence of>>> SPOILER > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Panspermia from an alien world that infected ours with bio/nanotechnology and how people saw it. BUT, I do have the Borne books to read soon, and yeah those sound weird. If I like them, I'll be off to this new trilogy you are reading.
Eventually I'll get back to Dresden. I finished the second book in April but I got overwhelmed by other books so I wanted to work on those instead (Paranesi and The Bringer of the Scourge). I'm excited to eventually read What moves the Dead personally because I was anticipating to read it for a long time around 2021 or so when I saw it as one of the recs from someone else
Your plans help to remind me to me map out my reading plans. I’m challenged to stay on top of my reading goals and now I’m giving awards to the books I read! Thanks!
Merphy has two discords. One that is open to anyone, which you get by via discord.gg/ZFSVc6xj But the discord she talks about in her videos, where she buddy reads all her books is through Patreon
What happened to Gideon the Ninth? I remember seeing it a while back in one of your TBR videos and then I never heard about it again. Are you still planning to read that? I was curious what you'd think of it, since it has a strange mix of tropes you love and tropes you dislike :). It's also one of my sister's faves.
