Istg Korea needs to stop giving us these hinted BL side couples and just make one with a main couple. Korea would be a lot quicker at accepting it if you just made one already.
my korean students before talked about gays and they said korean still didnt want to accept gay/bisexual. you can confess your sexuality to someone you really close but its a matter of time. maybe thats why they still forbidden gay scenes in their film
The Lover (2015) follows 4 different couples and 1 is a gay couple. Love with Flaws (2019) has gay major characters. Prison Playbook (2017) has gay major characters.

The first time I watched this show I thought that this was just an average, one-sided love. But, after another few watches, I’ve noticed that Hwi-Young could actually possibly like Oh-Je back. Bear with me here lol. So Hwi-Young grew up with an abusive dad and an alcoholic mum, meaning that he probably had little to no displays of affection from them. He also had a brother who didn’t care about him and moved out, leaving him alone in the household. His dad also forced him to focus only on school and trying to be the best. This means that he had hardly any opportunity to make friends or find out what love is. Then, he met Soo-Bin, who held him so dear and gave him the love that he needed in his life. She was the only one who cared for him as he needed and so he, at some point, must have mistook that love for being IN love with her. Then Joon-Woo moved into the school and, at first Hwi-Young wasn’t that bothered by him. He just thought he was some average kid and obviously did the things that he did. Then, Joon-Woo began getting close to Soo-Bin and he was noticing this very well. He started to panic and think that this would leave him all alone once more. He felt like he needed to defend her and keep her safe so that he wouldn’t be on his own and so that she wouldn’t get hurt. Suddenly, he finds out about how Oh-Je feels about him and he gets even more confused. I noticed that, after he found out about how the boy felt for him, he began to look at him more. He would glance at him in small moments. And then at the scene where they were both by the lockers, Hwi-Young seems almost defensive about himself. Almost like he’s scared of Oh-Je’s feelings for him. Oh-Je leaves and he stares at the spot where he was stood, a million thoughts running through his mind all at once. What was he feeling? Why was he feeling this? Didn’t he like Soo-Bin? As someone whose had many gay crushes in the past, I can recognise the signs and hints in the way Hwi-Young talks and looks at Oh-Je. It might just be me but I believe that he wasn’t absent of feelings for the other kid. He just didn’t know how to process them because he’d never been taught.
About the way Hwiyoung looks at OhJe I too felt it like its somewhere in there within him just he doesn't know how exactly he is supposed to analyse his feelings so far and how its messed up now
exactly my thought. It makes no sense to ship people in a group together, and force the to do skinship. But when they actually turn out to be gay or lesbian they act like it's disgusting? Makes no sense to me how they think that's okay( referring tothe skinship and shipping), but not okay to be able to fall in love with whomever they want. But it also applies to Straight couples fans in general should be understanding of their idol dating whomever.
I’m from Korea so I’ll explain. My culture has never been accepting to boy and boy and girl and girl. I don’t know exactly why, but please understand that our society and our community is very strict on how you should look and act. It’s so strict that 20% if not more of all births every year will end up killing themselves at some point. I know it’s bad, and I know it’s not good to be unaccepting of individuals in the gay catagory or just so pimply LGBT+. My point standing at is that if you stand out from your peers or coworkers in anyway that isn’t classed as normal, you do get bullied, you get beaten up it’s not nice at all, and the reason that Korean broadcasting centres that make these tv shows are afraid that their actor will get hate or even threats from the Korean public due to acting as a gay, lesbian ECT character. Recapping again please understand that our culture is completely different to yours, where you are it’saccepted and where I am it is not so much. You can quarrel all you like but you have to convince the Korean public, I myself am not against lgbt as my younger sister who was born male wishes to be a female, and as a small anecdote, almost every time she came home from school, she smelt like garbage as she had the bins dumped on her, (she has to wear male uniform but at home female clothes), she comes home with cuts and bruises from being beaten up, she even one had someone in her class attempt to kill her by trying to lure her onto the school rooftop, my mom reported this and the a school completely shut down all rooftop access. Even I get beaten up for being related to her, yet I still fight back no matter how much it hurts. My community just isn’t that accepting and trust me I wish it was. You are very brave for standing up for yourself and your sister. I hope that one day Korea will slowly open up, even now, internationally people are still unwilling to open up as well. I am from India and acc to law no one can bully any person just cause they r lgbt. We even have lgbt movies. But no person respects that law. In very backward villages they are apparently stoned..and in modern cities they are totally ignored. Its cause the freedom of western culture and the supposed freedom of Asian culture is totally different. In India if a woman cut her hair, drove a bike etc...ppl will bully her and call her a man. Her marriage prospects will be slim to none. Men won't even date her. The "Gender roles" are usually very strict in Asian cultures. I know its like this even in Japan and China.

Not an astro stan but moments of 18 was one of my first watched dramas , I really loved moonbin's Character and man moments song just hits hard now. may your beautiful soul rest in a peaceful sleep
I love this. I watched the drama coz of Moonbin since he's my bias in ASTRO but loved his character more when he dropped subtle hints about being gay then the whole revelation happen and that was just so beautiful, heartbreaking yes, but still beautiful.

It is sad to never here his voice again. I fell for his voice so hard. It just hurts so much that he is no more. The only thing comforting me is that he is in a better place with no pain and sorrows. I really hope that the kpop industry will change. Also the fans mentality. Please guys they are humans too. Don’t invade their privacy and if you truly want to see them up close go to concerts or meet and greets. Don’t stalk them and give them a hard time. Honestly at first I don't even interested in this drama but when I saw a clips of moonbin I came to watch this drama I was so happy to see him in this drama at the same time I am sad because he is no more, moonbin he is good in acting, dance,song he is my Star 🌟 and he will always be my star

Like the only ones that have happy endings r Thai bl.......don't get me wrong....I love my Thai bl dramas but it would be nice to have a Korean bl drama with a happy ending for once
@@pandaharris5535 There was three as far as I know! Life is Beautiful (2010) The Lover (2012) amd Be Melodramatic (2019). In the first one is a family drama so it's an ensamble cast and protagonism gravitates in certain characters per episode, but they credited the gay couple (Tae Sub & Kyung Soo) as lead roles so, well in the first they are leads. In the second and third ones, the bl couples (Joon Jae & Takuya in TL and in the other I can't remember the names) are co protagonic, and in both of them, there are happy ending. But since then there were just some gay characters in some dramas here and there. I'm agree with you, we need a korean drama with a gay couple as leads, or a multicultural couple as leads; that will be awesome!!

i just finished watching moment at eighteen and i am so mad!! because their storyline has such a big potential to be developed and explored more but gdi even the ending doesnt give them justice at all (esp. hwi young!! my fav. character, because of how complex he is. it's like he has so many layers and there's a lot more that we have yet to learn about him and a story about him would have so many things to explore, like his past, future and all that) i fuckin demand a season 2 with him as main!!!! (and also honestly i really wanna see more of how oh je eventually developed feelings for hwi young, like what did he see in him? was he different back then? was he not as bad? like, even just the slightest good thing that me might've done in the past that made oh je liked him. i mean, obviously he wasn't born wicked and evil like that, there's a big environmental factor that plays a role in how he turn out to be the person he is right now, and we can all see him suffering and in pain for all that) gdi and a lot of times i actually wished oh je would somehow try to approach hwi young during his hard times bc duh he has a crush on hwi young i thought he'd be concerned and care more about hwi young (which totally makes sense and logical for you to somehow want to care for your crush, i was expecting that all along!! but man was i left disappointed when their storyline really didnt develop and was just left like that) and hwi young LITERALLY has no one/real friend at that time!! during the hardest time of his life. i was actually afraid he might committed suicide at some point because he literally has no one by his side during the lowest time of his life (and again i thought oh je would somehow be the one who'd notice, cared for him, and offered him kindness when no one else would but man i was wrong 😩) like wthhhh hwi young is one big asshole but if you look closer he is just... unloved by everyone. i feel like he's never been truly loved by anyone and that's what makes him so damn heartless and cold because he indeed grew up in such a cold and unloving household (the very first ppl - his parents, that were supposed to give him warmth and feel loved supposedly didnt do that i guess), all he need is some love, really. it's rather sad. very sad actually. i know he's a big asshole but i hoped someone good will come along and showed him kindness so that he can turn into a better person, i hope everyone will stop looking at him as only a villain/antagonist, he's much more than that. he's also a victim too (of his parents). and he deserves to be loved too and be given second chance. everyone can change.

I started watching it but can't finish it now 😭😭😭 Binnie was our joy, now gone so suddenly, after giving us so much on Stage with every Performance. He gave his life to us, even apologising for being ill. Don't think I will ever not miss him. Dread to think how Dongminnie, Sua, SinB, Sanha, JinJin, MJ, Rocky, his parents, friends & Fantagio Staff are feeling. I just hope they can grieve, not forced to return to work too soon. Poor Eunwoo had to, so hard for him, best friend 💜💔😰

this is a really good show, i really loved how they dealt with the kids' feelings, and damn some realistic and eventually healthy parenting takes place 😔🙏 definitely worth a watch, it's sweet and it's bitter and sad but mostly sweet.
