It took us 13 years…. But we can finally play Jungle Joyride Day officially in 60 FPS with no frame drops, it took 2 console generations to let 1 stage run as intended, let that sink in
@@paulo547 it didn’t take me that long but I was playing other games simultaneously. I actually started with this level after a bit of a hiatus and I was terrible but it was a good time anyways
I don't care what anyone says, frame drops and all, this is my favorite boost level in the franchise, hands down. The variety of locations, the challenge, the camera angles, the GORGEOUS scenery, the length, the music...EVERYTHING comes together so well.
I love how the music is utilized in Sonic Unleashed. If you get through the first area (the docks) flawlessly, this part 0:48 plays right as you enter the forest.
Yk this is also for sonic cd at collision chaos, if you start running the moment the zone starts metal sonic should fly away with amy as the song enters the second part
I love when video game background music syncs with the gameplay if you play well. I wish more games did that. Most tracks loop a couple times before you're even able to finish the level, or don't have a chance to loop at all.
It took 12 years, plus 2 console generations, for this game to run properly at a consistent 30 fps without any frame drops. Sonic Unleashed was objectively ahead of its time.
@@boysdontcryanymore it’s Sony they don’t like old games no disrespect but why make you pay for a streaming service to play old games if you own the disc (if you own it yourself)
This stage is a masterpiece. It has the most natural and fluent level progression, It has a decent difficulty that tests all of your skills with the daytime stages just before Eggman land. It has plenty of spectacle that changes in each act of the level. It is pretty long. It has the most unique setting for a Sonic game much less any platformer and looks gorgeous. And last but not least has this bomber of a track playing in the background. Truly peak Sonic
I don’t like how the only songs people pay attention to in the Unleashed OST are Windmill Isle and Rooftop Run. This and other tracks are amazing and deserve more attention
Tomoya Ohtani crafted the perfect beat for the perfect and most challenging stages of the game. Favorite level so far and favorite game. Hope he got something similar for Frontiers.
Seen many people play this stage before when I was just 8 years old, and didn't know the frustration of the levels. I played this three months ago and I now know what the pain feels like. The music just makes you all fired up and makes you feel like you can't give up yet!
+Shaknowne Chrono Is it possible to boost at the beginning without killing yourself? Because Sonic's Speed is maxed out at lvl 11 and he goes flying off the bridge before I can quick step. I saw Cobanermani456 do it with speed at lvl 5
Jacob Owen Are you implying that if you start out with boost, before you get any rings? I mean, i'd think it's possible. You'd most likely start off running on the water, unless your reflexes are godlike. But, if you could find a spot to jump back onto the pier area boardwalk, before your ring energy drains, you could do it.
My favourite stage from ALL SONIC GAMES. EVERYTHING is perfect there. Collapsing ruins, beautiful views, dynamic actions and this music... MASTERPIECE. The best stage I ever played.
Seeing the comments now... Oh, I wish you all would see how it plays now- we have finally achieved a crisp 60fps, after 2 long generations. It is finally ours. We can rest peacefully now, Unleashedbros. The battle has been won.
After many years this still my favorite track from Unleashed, maybe even my favorite in Sonic Franchise: it's just so catchy, everything is amazing. Love it!
This song just does it as the last stage (excluding the eggmanland gauntlet) because it just has that feeling that when you just hear it you know you'll be put to the ultimate test of everything you learned in the game so far. Love the entire ost and personally think unleashed had the BEST ost hands down.
I played this on my series s and the frame rate was smooth asffffff. Now that I've experienced this stage in all of its glory I can say with confidence that this is my favourite stage in the game.
Just hearing this is giving me flashbacks to those awesome Wii vine segments. You can hate the Wii version all you want, but I freaking love this game.
Funny story: So me and a friend where messing around in Lego star wars 3, when we got bored and decided to play Unleashed. I had beaten the game a dozen times by than, so I let him play. Instead of wanting to play an Early stage, he told me to give him the hardest stage in the game, and I chose this one. It took 45 minutes and over 40 deaths, but when he hit the end, we where both screaming in joy.
@@debhen Thanks, and he had experience. He had 100% Generations a few years before the Unleashed thing; He and I kept reminding himself to hit X instead of A for a homing attack.
Toothy the even the Xbox one has issues running this stage so no, they really couldn’t add more foliage. Why isn’t it lush enough? Looks like a dense Jungle to me.
This game scored 100% from scenery to music to level design to essence of culture. This game was a god given masterpiece. I am so happy I got to have and experience this game as a child. 😭♥️ Nostalgia will never be forgotten
I recently noticed that this song shares that flute part with Back in Time from Sonic R! It makes me wonder if it's just a neat little coincidence or if they took some inspiration from it! ^_^
@@connorcoco2152 Actually, Series X can't keep a locked 60 fps in Jungle Joyride Day Act 1. Both the first jungle segment and the first water running segment drop frames. Stays above 50, but still. What the fuck
@@connorcoco2152 Well, for a 2008 game running at 880x720 I would have expected 120fps. But, well, emulation. Hey, at least we have VRR, that makes it mostly unnoticable
@@davidfodre1375 game still looks gorgeous either way, and the texture filtering is better on the backwards compatible versions of the game, meaning the textures don’t look blurry from far away anymore AND there’s antialiasing to stop the game looking pixelated
@@ykgcaramel6515 I hate the piss filter with a burning passion tho. That died an unceremonious death when the 8th gen consoles showed up, and the world is a better place for it.
the penultimate setting of this game, befitting the title of greatest stage design in all of Sonic. i swear, man, there isnt a single level in any other game that works with the games mechanics so perfectly, smoothly and excitingly, especially after several hours of already experiencing amazing level after amazing level. Jungle Joyride is everything about what it means to BE Sonic and be moving at the speed of sound and it is by far the most enjoyable experience one could possibly get out of any one stage in any Sonic game, imo
This lagged like hell on PS3 but on 360 it was a lot better. It only really dropped frames when running on water and when you get a waterspout erupt, apart from that no I had no issues playing it on 360. Ofc having played the Unleashed Project since then you get no frame drops at all either way.
It's crazy how this game is able to make my Xbox One S cry in despair as I play this stage, this game is 15 years old and still it can absolutely make recent hardware suffer
the sense of speed in this games day stages are why they are by far my fave part of any sonic game ever. out of all the sonic games its this one where he feels blazingly fast. I think the realistic environments kinda help sell you on that, in my opinion!
