Chengdu, the home of pandas, boasts both modern city markets and natural, primitive suburban forest markets.
In this episode, I venture into the outskirts of Chengdu to explore a hidden market nestled in a pristine forest. This market is far from the hustle and bustle of the city center.
At 8:00 am, I arrived near the market, greeted by a lush expanse of greenery. If it weren't for the sight of local residents approaching with baskets on their backs, I wouldn't have imagined that there would be a market in such a natural forest.
Unlike other markets, the moment I stepped into this one, I was enveloped by the fragrance of flowers and birdsong. The air was fresh, the sky was blue, and the environment was incredibly comfortable and healing. The tranquility of the forest was occasionally interrupted by the crowing of roosters. As time went on, more and more people entered the market to shop, and the sounds of hawking filled the air, gradually transforming the quiet environment into a lively one.
Although this suburban forest market is relatively small, it offers a wide variety of food, supplies, and services. Residents living here can enjoy both the beautiful natural environment and the convenience of meeting their daily needs, truly achieving the best of both worlds.
