At the foothills of the Himalaya, along the border separating India and Nepal, Raji nomads still hunt for wild honey.
They scale the trees of the great Terai forest, risking their lives to harvest the honey of the apis laboriosa - the largest migratory bee in the world. Both slave and master of the bees, Bahadur defies the towering trees and braves death for the survival of his people.
After discovering written accounts of the Raji's way of life, photographer and filmmaker Eric Valli set out to discover what had become of these nomadic people.
Documentary: “Jungle Nomads of the Himalayas”
Direction: Eric Valli & Debra Kellner
Production: Wind Horse Productions & Canal +

The Raji's borrowed a bit of honey from their bee neighbors but they robbed my heart. Where are you going? Where the bees are going. Where are the bees going? Where the flowers are. Fragrant in their existence, sweetness in their presence, Raji's are the honey amongst humans.

What do they do with all of the beeswax I'm certain there's a market for it it is used for many things another gift from God in the honey is valuable for strength power and health and the Paul and even more. Here in the USA the bees only go in hives in Hollow trees and then you have to cut the tree down to get it I've never seen honey bees on the outside of the tree

What is wrong with you? if there is a planetary disaster like a large volcano the climate change will kill these kind of people first. I cannot understand why you would respect these people, because in my mind they are on the cusp of death. I do not understand the live with nature people, because humans were produced by nature. If nature did not want us it would kill us, and does to those living on the cusp. Technology is a natural state that allows a conciousness to understand, and without that understanding there is only stagnation.

@@arilambertus6060 I respect those that live in the jungle. Those are tough people. I was made to live in the jungle without much food, and I know it is hard. It's a hard life for sure, starvation is hard , sickness is hard , death is hard, I live in Cambodia, part time. Going without food is more common than eating. The Cambodians eat dogs , monkeys , bats , insects, rice cost to much. That's how poor the Cambodians are. But it is a beautiful country, that's what you get when you have a dictator running your country, sort of like Biden's presidency. We will be like Cambodia soon.

@MrPink sadly we cannot escape from problems, they simply are of a different kind than the ones we experience. And the community faces them together, more united in daily efforts than we are now. Once we also were more like this, and not so long ago either! Pre world war two, many remote European rural communities along the coastline and mountain areas especially, were living in a more integrated way. A whole way of life that is becoming more and more rare now.
