I have had the ESEE Junglas for over a year and this is my review. The jungle is rough on knives the weak are eaten and only the strong survive. In this video I test the ESEE Junglas on ironwood, cinnamon wood, I open coconuts and show how she performs.

great video bud, I watched start to finish, which doesn't happen often. I love a good long term use video! I totally agree about the choil, as a one tool option, I think that it could take this knife to the next level. I also loved your jungle ninja death star!

Nice review. I've been eyeing this knife for quite some time. It made more sense when I lived in Alaska, but now I'm in the low desert of Arizona and it's a lot more difficult to justify (the Izula 2 is often my biggest blade out here). Still, it's reviews like that--getting to see the blade in action--that make me want to pick one up any way.

Adventure Ryan the esee 6 would probably be better for the desert. Mahalo for your kind words

Love the Junglas and the Kabar BK9 but the Junglas is the better value with kydex sheath, micarta handles and molle back. For a large knife the Junglas feels lively in the hand from my experience (so does the BK9). Great review and pretty spot on with the pro's and con's. Nice job sir!

Hi Gabe, seems to be a very good one, so as all Esees I got in hands and the ones I own. I can't imagine that I will ever need a knife in such size but I think I want one...:-) I'll bring it with me when I visit you in beautiful Hawaii some day, haha... Have a good one, Oli

I just got my hands on a Bark Rive Rogue Bowie so I am no longer in the premium big knife market. Still looks like a good knife. I used to associate Kukris with the jungle and thought that they were super popular in jungle environments. Do you have any experience with them? In particular the ones by the ghurka house that can be found on Amazon for less than $70.

I am a huge fan of the Junglas too, been my main big knife for a while. Don't quote me on this but it was my understanding that the mission of this knife was to take a Latin style machete and shrink it down to a package that could be more easily carried by soldiers/ect. while in the jungle, in buildings, in helicopters, or where ever else counter cartel might have to go. The idea being taking about the same amount of steel and shrinking it own and designing it in such a way where it could be used for all the tasks of the longer, thinner Latin style machetes. What do you think of this? Do you think ESEE succeeded in retaining most of that functionality or is it just a different beast entirely?
@gabehumphries5483
@gabehumphries5483 7 лет назад
Jake Davis I believe esee succeeded with the junglas light enough to pack around but still packs a punch. Mahalo for watching

How's the tip on it hold up? I saw you were a little cautious on the tip test. I just bought the same blade with the same finish because I broke my Kukri. the tip looks super delicate.
@gabehumphries5483
@gabehumphries5483 7 лет назад
Joe D that's one of my biggest complaints about this knife the tip is just too thin. over a year-and-a-half I have had no issues but then again I'm fairly easy on the tip. Mahalo for watching

The junglas is the best large knife for the money with that incredible sheath. I love mine but my rtak definitely has held up better and for half the price. No complaints but if esee made the junglas in 5160 i think It would be a homerun.

Say Heah Gabe but seriously, I went with my Seampies, My Rodent 9 is similar in size to the Junglas but it's made in a proprietary steel SR101, which is adeferentially tempered by the Busse Technology a 52100 Ballbraring Steel, check out the video by Mer on RU-vid and his Rident 9. shall I say more. ,, .
