I love the devil's face constantly shifting and changing in the video. Perfectly fits the uneasiness.

Phenomenal analysis, there are some things you pointed out that I hadn't really picked up on before. I'm glad you're enjoying Ghost, and hope to see you continue your journey with them. Ghost likes to play around with genres, so you'll never know exactly what to expect. This song and Spillways are both from their fifth album, Impera, which is their most polished album so far (and their latest EP of covers, Phantomime). The last track on Impera is called Respite on the Spitalfields - there's no music video, but there is a lyric video, and it is amazing. Honestly, you can't really go wrong whichever song you pick.

You should do their song "Cirice" they won a Grammy for it.

Another interesting analysis 🙂 This is such a good song. It was a Grammy nominee this year... As I mentioned in the Spillways video comments.. this is from the latest album "Impera", which production wise is on another level. As you said.. Spillways and this one are different, but they still have that Ghost-signature.. You can not fit Ghost into a single genre.. Tobias just writes what he likes and what sounds great, no matter what genre it is. His music is deeply inspired by a lot of bands from the 70s and 80s, and his main goal is to entertain while having fun.. Now.. Mephistopheles is associated with the German Faust legend, based on the historical Johann Georg Faust. In the legend, Faust makes a deal with the Devil at the price of his soul, with Mephistopheles acting as the Devil's agent. So he is harvesting souls for the Devil. 🙂 Where you go from here is totally up to you.. You could continue with the "Impera" album, or delve into some of the older stuff.. Genre wise you could listen to some of the slower ones.. Check out "He is" from the "Meliora" album, the beautiful "Life eternal" from the "Prequelle" album, or "Darkness at the heart of my love" from the "Impera" album. Feel like dancing? Do "Dance Macabre" from the "Prequelle" album 😊 More into guitar based stuff .. Try "Faith" from the "Prequelle" album, or "Cirice" (Grammy winner) from the "Meliora" album. And finally.. to challenge you.. Try "Twenties" from the "Impera" album for some serious metal reggeaton 😉

The album version is slightly longer but not noticeably so. This is the song that got me into Ghost.

Addictive song. Another great analysis. James Hetfield (Metallica) mentioned Ghost and, for me, when I checked them out - I was hooked. edit: The initial guitar sound reminds me of D.A.D. - "Sleeping My Day Away". Those devil faces, layered images, remind me of AI creations! Ahead of their time?..... Check out their cover of Shakespeare's Sister "Stay"?

Ghost is the only rock band ive ever heard use a kettle drum in a rock song (Cirice). Little Sunshine is a reference to Alister Crowley. He was brought up on heresy charges, and during his court appearance, the judge asked how he would like to be addressed (he was called the Beast by many in the newspapers), he replied "You can call me little sunshine."

I would recommend „miasma“ which is an instrumental. Or „cirice“ or „he is“ from ghost. But they have so many good songs!
