David grabbed the bull by the horns so to speak. The other trees were beautiful but relatively simple pieces of material to work with Hans, but I'm guessing David knew this 'bush' was in great hands with him. Thank goodness he was there! Amazing work, professional job.
Well spoken Dean and my point exactly. What I admire in his work is just how meticulously everything is. Every time when I bring in my Bonsai for the yearly Noelanders trophy very early in the morning way before the show is open to the public, I always take the time to study all the Bonsai he has for sale in his stall! Each and every one of them could be in the actual show! So well styled and healthy a real joy to watch and admire! I remember a few years ago when he showed a stunning Sylvestris cascade Bonsai in that same show. It was fully wired and still got nominated by the knowledgeable judges... that's how good it was !!! I not only admired his well-made branch structure and use of open spaces on this amazing Bonsai but also the flawless application of the wire! Just discovered your channel, and I'm glad I found it. Sogetsu Ikebana has my interest but bonsai definitely will be interesting for the future if I keep following your videos.
Changing the angle to a slanting style was a really good idea. Also, i feel like the branch close to the bottom of the tree should be removed because it is tangled in deadwood and cluttered. 15:23
Sorry David, i saw you do a demo many years ago at Ginko, alongside Kevin Wilson, you were superb, did a drawing of the end result and over the weekend created that result with a Sylvestris. You nailed it then and now???????????? too much foliage in one session removed, possibly 70%. Chances of tree surviving?????? So so sorry to leave a negative comment for such a talented guy
If this tree were to live in the North of England where you receive around 8 days of sunshine a year you might be right. But no, this Sabina will be living in a region where Sabina regularly lose large portions in winter storms and thrive in the following seasons. I think David has worked enough Junipers over the last God knows how many years to know just how much is too much foliage to remove. I'm not a betting man, but if I were I'd bet the tree will just fine. lol
