I was also in Juniper last year and thought I could add some things! I was in flat 4B (a 10 person flat). We only had one big fridge and big freezer so some people had to share shelves - try and get a cupboard and drawer in the kitchen early as I ended up with tiny cupboards while my flatmates had huge ones. I think flat furnishings in the communal space also can also be different flat to flat, we had 7 dining chairs that were wooden while I saw you had plastic. Other than that my flat was very similar room wise :)

Thank you so much for filming this! I've been looking everywhere trying to find an in-depth video of how the flats look like. I have three questions - 1. I applied quite late for the accommodation and only got very selected options, and Beech Court was one of them, is the layout similar to Juniper Court? 2. Is there a thermostat in rooms? 3. Are the hobs gas or induction stoves?

Thank you - As far as I am aware Beech is almost identical to Juniper but I haven’t actually been in it myself! The rooms have a radiator that you can control how hot you want it to be but there is no air conditioning. And finally the hobs are induction. Hope this helps 😊

Thank you so much for posting this! It is so helpful and needed for incoming students. I wanted to ask too, how was it having 10 housemates? Was it crazy loud? Did you feel like you had privacy in your ensuite?

Hi, thank you so much and I’m glad you enjoyed the video :). I was a little bit nervous about living in a 10 person flat but I really enjoyed my time there. Obviously with that many people it’s not gonna be smooth sailing for the whole time but we all got along pretty well for the most part. It can be loud sometimes but you have an option to pick a quiet flat if that’s what you would prefer and I loved my en-suite and would definitely recommend it and gave me lots of privacy!!

@@marthajohnston2552 thank you so much! I was told I would have an ensuite but I’m just not sure of the amount of people. I think it’s from 5 to 10. So obviously the most would be 10 and I am a lil nervous too. I have lived in houses similar but it’s been awwwwhhhiiillleeee. If you can, how far is Juniper Court from classes or I guess the main campus? And you were talking about a meal plan which I didn’t know was a thing! Is there a cafeteria? Or how is the food situation? I appreciate everything and I apologize for so many questions. I am just having to make a decision and it’s tough!

@@MeganTheVikingTraveler hi, don’t worry about asking questions - im here to help! As far as I’m aware, there are 5, 8 and 10 person flats all of which are en-suites. You don’t get to choose but I think when you apply you can maybe write in a box saying you would prefer one over the other. Juniper court is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main building and I have a mean plan because you cook all your own meals. There are cafes as well as a small shop on campus where you can grab food but there is no cafeteria like place where you would go for your meals.

@@marthajohnston2552 Thank you so much! Sorry I got a cold while finishing finals which I blame on lack of sleep and STRESS...But thank you so so so so so so so much. You are fantastic for posting this and I really appreciate all the feedback. The best way to learn is through others who have done it and its helpful as heck! I am not the greatest cook in the world....but I can just keep it simple. I did want to ask whenever you can, how did you like Stirling? I visited Edinburgh and lived in Glasgow for a bit, but only went to Stirling Castle. So I do not know much about it. THANK YOOOOOU!

@@MeganTheVikingTraveler i love stirling - it’s a very small city but I think that suits me quite well. There is one nightclub and a few good bars for nights out and lots of cafes for little bites to eat. The university itself is a little bit out of the city centre but there is a bus that takes you straight there and is only 10 minutes long. The campus itself is great and if you choose to live there is has everything you might need such as a shop, a doctor and pharmacy, gym, library and loads of great walking routes!

Hi do you have any opinions/knowledge on the studio flats in this building? I'd quite like the privacy to concentrate on study but don't want to be isolated and away from making friends - is it harder to socialise in them?
@marthajohnston2552
@marthajohnston2552 Год назад
I think it really depends on you. I know that I would of struggled meeting people if I was in a studio because I have a hard time doing it anyway and needed that push to talk to people . I’ve been in a studio before and they are really nice! So much storage!! But there are so many ways of meeting people at uni such as classes, sports teams and society so it’s not all about flatmates but I definitely think it’s a personal preference . Hope this helps xx

They are mixed but you can put down a preference if you’d rather be in a single gender flat.

Yes however there isn’t a lot of space for extra people and you aren’t allowed overnight guests more than twice in a 7 day period - I would also check with your flat mates are okay with it too!
