Excellent video! I haven't created a JJ yet because I really didn't know what's what.. now I'm confident enough to start. Happy Mail could also be digital files for Junk Journaling? I create graphics and have just randomly send images to people who loved my art.. I would think so. Also, I noticed you didn't mention transfers, I have tons of Iron Orchid Designs transfers, Redesign with Prima transfers and Bells and Whistles transfers that I intend on using. You can transfer them on almost anything, write over them, paint them, and then seal them. Also intend on using the moulds from IOD to embellish the front and sides of my JJ. Just thought you'd like to know about these companies that create gorgeous supplies. They are for the home, but can also be used for J.J. or even baking! My entire art/craft room is bursting full, but I love paper so much, I have to make space for this new and exciting craft! TY for the great explanations for all the terms ladies. I'm a new subscriber for both of your channels now and I look forward to learning more. Love your mil/dil relationship!

I just took all the colored plates out of a vintage bird book. Everyone of the colored plate pages were tip ins! I wondered why they had been glued in the book. Thanks for that info!!

I’m glad you made this video! I’m a beginner and trying to learn everything I can then put it into motion making all the things-belly band, tucks, etc. I started making a journal out of a paper bag as you did with the girls at camp. In this video I got lost at the end of Pages/Spread/Leaf/Paper where Kathleen said count the papers and multiply by 4. What did she mean by that? Thanks Have a Nice Day 😊
Great video! Lots of fun to watch! But I do have to say, I really love gator mouth journals! I’m much more likely to buy a journal that’s a gator mouth because I like the look of them and because they are full of lots of fun things. Much better than a flat journal with very few pockets or lots of empty pockets inside. There are too many of those for sale out there! Best of all though - a heavily embellished, stuffed journal that lays flat because it has a 3-in spine!! 😉
I always thought gator was referred to a gator spine that is a extra large spine so u can make a chunky journal... All my journals turn put chunky I love them... So i do gator spines. I have been saying it wrong
This was so much fun! I loved watching you two interact in your explanations! The junk journal vocabulary can be overwhelming for a newbie. I spent hours researching so many terms... the first was tip-in. I wanted some of those “tip-ins”. A Pinterest post used cards the size of playing cards and I thought it was a term for these little cards, so I went to Amazon to buy some... lol. This is when I found RU-vid was the place to go to learn just about anything about anything! Thank you so much... I learned several new terms today and I’m now going to check out Kathleen’s channel!
I am not sure if you will see this but I’m gonna give it a try anyway. I saw your video with your mother-in-law which is fantastic and I found out that you live in Arizona. OK I have a problem I create Ballet junk journal for fundraisers at our studio. Of course, rhinestones are a must right? So I put rhinestones on every single top corner page on both sides. Yes, that looks fantastic. However, I cannot close the book. It is so wide that it is ridiculous. Have decided to cut half of them off on a diagonal at the top corner of the page however, what do I do now with some of the corners cut off and some of the corners not cut off what can I do to make this look somewhat presentable, do you have any ideas? I appreciate it and also I love your videos and I’m so glad you create and make them and your mother-in-law so darling and the two of you together is precious. Thank you so much I appreciate it.
This was so helpful. I always wondered about happy mail & swaps. How do you make jj friends and do a swap. Im an unknown doing this for the fun and to release some creativity. I know its in there somewhere. 😆
We were actually gonna talk about swaps but it turned out we Had too much to say about them so we’re saving it for a future collaboration. I have done swaps through Facebook groups. My favorite group for swaps is the JJJ Chat Group. The swaps will be in the group events and you just read the requirements for the event. You can always reach out to the admin‘s as well. They are so helpful! I connect with other junk journalers through the Facebook groups and also through Instagram by finding people I admire to follow and comment on people’s posts. 💖
you explained the noun "a fussycut" but what is the verb "to fussycut". I thought it meant "messy cutting" but I've seen people refer to clean lined cutting as fc. so its basically hand cutting?
I would describe it was cutting something out in an outlined fashion so it mimics the shape of the object rather than cutting a square shape around it. Does that make sense?
well technically once you print it out and use it- it becomes real ephemera because it is now your own paper trash... trash in that you glue it/ write on it and then it really has no other purpose anymore. but i suppose that means all stuff is ephemera... but I mean- life is ephemeral so !
