Some of the best music around; no matter age, color or proximity to D.C. when I was seven or eight my third grade class went to D.C. I got off the bus straight out the country, saw some cats playing five gallon paint buckets and coffee cans with drum sticks. Rest of the kids were like, "wtf" I was like, "Awww damn! That's the most amazing sh*t I've ever heard!"... I've not been the same since
Ahhh 60 year old SE Anacostia sistah checking in started partying at the Panorama Room with Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers. California girl now but trust my kids and grandkids party to GoGo; this music is our culture the heartbeat of DC. So i share with my tribe as their heritage🎵🎶

This half white, quarter Korean, quarter Native American boy lived in affluent area of Mont. Co. back in the day. Used to go to the club to see JYB with my black mom and her kids. Sometimes we'd roll down to Tacoma Park, Langley Park, Oxen Hill, and Anacostia SE to see s'up with the go go. Sometimes I'd lunch hard (that white boy's a lunchbox!) and we'd go see the great JYB. I'd usually be the only non-black boy there, but it didn't matter cause everyone was dancing and my black mom and her 5 kids looked out for me. Whenever I hear JYB I get nostalgic. Miss them days (all of 30+ years ago) sometimes and my black mom all the time! (RIP and love you, Mrs. C)
Middle school years right here. Pretty girls, jams at the back of the bus, mix tapes, WKYS, WPGC. All those go-go beats that echoed past the District into VA and MD.

EVERY CHICK was droppin’ it like it’s HOT!!!
