That truck brings back sooooo many fond memories of the truck my dad had growing up. Ours was sky blue all the way around and was a 318 truck. I grew up with it, learned to drive in it, and spent a lot of great times with my dad in it. I miss that ole man so much and not a day goes by that I don't think about him. Thanks for the smiles and memories that I haven't thought about in a long time ❤

I own a 1989 w100 version of this truck and is 4x4 with this exact same colour and trim package. I live in a rust belt here in Canada and am amazed it’s still in decent shape. My dad had owned it and was diligent about getting it undercoated and is most likely the reason it’s still around. I mainly only use it for plowing….. can’t afford to drive it…. Love’s it’s fuel.

That truck is in too good of shape to be in the yard. But thank you for explaining why that's the first generation of Dodge trucks. Because I've owned the body style before this one. 1971 and earlier. I'm off to wonder why they call this first generation. By the way I think this body style with this Grill this particular year looks so much better than the semi looking

First generation of Dodge "RAM" trucks...There were, as you said, definitely Dodge trucks for decades prior to this but they weren't named Dodge Ram until 1981 which was a minor restyle of the '72 style; all the earlier ones were just the "D-series". I think in hindsight (today) this version looks great, but I do recall in 1993 thinking the semi-looking one looked good mainly due to actually looking "different" and standing out from the others. Non-truck people certainly all of a sudden knew what a Dodge truck was, whereas prior to 1993 to many people trucks were just trucks and the Ford looked more or less like the Chevy which didn't look that different from the Dodge (I'm talking about non-truck people here). Anyway, thanks for watching! (and yes there wasn't anything obvious about the truck in the yard that wouldn't have me reaching for my checkbook if I saw it parked outside with a For Sale sign on it at a reasonable price, i.e. somewhat higher than what the junkyard paid for it.)

@@jimmythejunkyarddawg I literally have bought vehicles from the tow truck driver before they hauled them into the you picked apart type yards. I don't want to mention any specific salvage yards name. National Park was in 1981 Ford 2 wheel drive 8-ft Ford F100 or maybe it's an F-150. Anyway I think he's got like $60,000 original miles on it. The old man was heartbroken because he left it parked outside and somebody stole the top end off the engine after breaking the side glass. They also took the tailgate. And this guy who I could not understand too well because English was the second language. And basically snooker the old man into thinking that he was going to fix up the truck. So make a story short the guy gave this tow truck guy the truck. The guy couldn't get into one of those you pick it apart yards. Because he got there 10 minutes after the cut-off time. I told him I'd give him $50 over what the yard was going to give him if he would haul it out to my place. Oh I think you end up paying about 75 $80 more than what the yard was going to give him. Still got the truck and it is just a straight as it can be. Not the most desirable year of Ford but it's still worth something.
