I finally got a 110!
My friend Jim Jones had his father-in-law's old John Deere 110. His Grandson took it to shop class, then Jim drove it about a 1/4 mile down to the woods and back, and is sat in the barn ever since. Luckily it sat inside. Unfortunately it sat for over ten years with a full tank of gasoline. It needs some work but I'm excited about it.Its a 1968 by the serial number and it is the first year for the flat fenders. The next day I spotted a snowblower of the same vintage in a scrap pile in Onward, and I left a note in the mailbox and got a call I could come get it! When I get the tractor running, I can put it right to work! Enjoy!

I bought a 110 in 71 new. My grandson mows with it now. About the only thing major we did to it is rebuild the deck. The Kohler engine is pretty much bulletproof. It does smoke a little but it keeps the mosquitoes away. Enjoy your find, you will probably never need another mower.

Hey Richard, congrats on the 110 find! I bought my Uncle's 110 when he stopped mowing his own yard. I have a '71 112 with a 46'' deck. It is a pleasure to mow with! From Sophia, N.C.

Yeah, I'm hoping I can save the gas tank, but obviously the fuel gauge stick has been ruint by old gasoline. Also I'm very excited about the snowblower. It was so coincidental that I found it.

Hello From Central Kentucky. I noticed your video and was naturally curious being that I also have both Cub Cadets and John Deere garden tractors. My 110 John Deere has one of the red M8ST Kohler Magnum engines which is a very self contained engine package with all of the components and controls being on the actual engine rather than the Kohler K181 engines that your 110 has for example. The Kohler M8ST engine was utilized on many of the original Troy-Bilt rototillers which kind of explains the self contained features versus the more normal spaced out features that like your 110 has. Unfortunately they butchered my 110 up a bit with a cutting torch to fit the M8ST engine where the K181 used to be. The positive is that I could maybe find a newer replacement engine without much “Heartburn” being that my tractor is already kind of permanently altered. Right now, I do not have the wiring harness in place because whoever did the butchering also did the same with the wiring which was “A Total Rats Nest” and one day I took my wire cutters and put the butchered harness out of its misery. Surprisingly enough, there was a large portion of the original wiring harness that I could very easily repair should I decide to go back to a K181 or larger engine. I am intending to construct a new wiring harness that will be very similar to the OEM wiring harness,,But make the provision for the rectifier that the M8ST Magnum engine has. Because of the difference, I feel that just making up a new wiring harness is the best way to go. I made sure to subscribe to your RU-vid channel and I wish you the very best with your new project. I would greatly encourage you to check out many of the John Deere garden tractor groups and forums because many of them are extremely active and a great resource for both knowledge and finding hard to find parts.

Thank you very much for the information. I have a little bit of experience with the M8ST as I've used an old Troy-Bilt rototiller quite a lot in the rhubarb patch to keep weeds down. I've got an Economy Tractor Power King that has a larger Kohler engine as well. Kohler's quality of engines used to be very good. I say used to be because I don't have experience with the newer ones. Good luck with your 110 as well.
