Hi "Tuner with Kids" Just had to say "Hi" & that pearl white is Lexus with black interior & factory alloys is identical to mine here in Aust. Minus front end damage of course lol When ive gone looking for parts here for mine so many have been written off due to front end damage Hope ur enjoying the election cause im just luving it here. Maybe things will change for the better U never know 👍
Hey Binh, Sportcross owner here looking at brakes - I was planning on doing the GS350 F-Sport calipers, but after seeing this video I'm highly considering dropping those for the 17Z calipers. VERY interested in this video series and finding out what needs to be trimmed down to make it fit.
Yea I’m getting time now to get on it. It’s gonna take some work but hopefully it’s worth it. It’s only a bargain if you can get the 17z for cheap. I felt like $80 I paid at you pick was good compared to Car-part yards who were listing them for like $200+. Also it’s hard to know if they have 17z or 18z or the smaller 4-pots. The brackets are $150 and limited supply from Overkill Engineering and you need $80 RCA too. Next best option, which is bolt on is 350phi brackets with ISF calipers.
@@TunerwithKids lol I bought the 350phi bracket on backorder yesterday but am now reconsidering doing Fsport Calipers in favor of the 17z. Having 6 pot Brembos vs 4 pot Advics would be cooler and be better for track use considering the larger pad surface area... But yeah, the Audi Recycler near me is asking $270 for a pair while the Fsport calipers i got a quote for were $210 shipped. Decisions, decisions....
Both are too much!! Don’t pay more than $120 shipped for either. I got my GS F-Sport got $120 just got to car-Part and call around. Also need to make sure they verify it’s not a regular 350 set. Same with the 17z. The sale last week at Bell and Rallye Lexus had brand new ISF for $300 each, free shipping. The RCF was $280 each. This caused influx of orders for Phi.
Shop around. Prices range from $100 to $400 a set. 😳😳. Also most yards don’t know what they have so you may risk getting 18z or the 4-pot versions. No rhyme of reason on why they used so many options.
The 17z and 18z are basically the same calipers but different mounting ears due to the rotors they were designed for (330mm and 360mm). Don’t waste time with the 4 pot, they aren’t Brembo. The rear 4 pot Brembo are dime a dozen since all three cars, Touareg, Cayenne and Q7 used them for like a decade.
Yea I’ve got all the parts but will be going tthru some in-depth cleaning, sand blasting, and rebuilding of these before I get them on. Still deciding on a color too.
@@TunerwithKids I could be wrong but with these audi calipers you need 34mm width rotors. The GS350 Fsport are 30mm.. I smaller will fit under the calipers but to me I don't think they will work right.
Lots of people use these fine with the brackets. It’s multiple pistons on both sides so the 2mm per side is well within the pad and piston travel tolerances.
@@TunerwithKids no, that makes sense. 2mm is not much. I've been on the hunt for a brake swap on my Ram 1500. Found many calipers that will with a custom bracket of course but finding rotors has been difficult. Taking what you said about using 30mm rotors. That expands my search to more rotors. Thanks
Have an unrelated question. I have an IS250 but I hate the break system on it. Would I be able to convert it by installing the bigger 350 rotors on the front and rear and also 350 calipers on it? Will I need anything special or will it fit? The front 250 brakes system with the metal slots keep scratching my rotors to shreds that’s why I want that 350 system.
@@TunerwithKids thanks for the info. Ordered everything for the fronts to get done. Would there be an issue if I just left the back brakes in the old 250 style while the fronts are 350 style?
@@TunerwithKids thanks a lot man. Sucks I have to do all this. The metal in my front brakes is scratching up my rotors. Always hated that brake system. 350 and F system is way better.
Easiest way is the 04-06 VW Touareg V8. The other engines and newer years are hit/miss. Some with the Cayenne and Audi Q7, depends on the option package. The higher packager bigger motors got 18z with bigger rotors.
@@TunerwithKids great nugget of information.....my game plan is either double caliper the rears and fronts or source these multipot calipers for a hybrid 56 international w/cummins conversion. Not interested in suicide drums period. Thanks...I'm sure these cars/SUVs rarely see a pick in pull....but a surprise is really a surprise.
You’d be surprised the VW Touareg are all getting mechanically totaled due to age and cost to fix engines. Same with Cayenne. In January my Pick and Pull had 4 in a month (3 Touareg and a Cayenne).
