Jupiter has many interesting parts such as the great red spot(a massive storm) that is actually getting smaller but there is another red spot forming and growing on another part of the planet that may take over the first red spot.

ciyoduhkriter That is the most widely acceptable theory right now! But due to some proper calculations done by some scientists, it is now believed that the asteroid may have hit Earth after the dinosaur extinction event! Which they came back with several theories to explain why dinosaur went extinct, the most reliable and promising one so far is that the mammals may have been stealing dinosaur eggs as a source of food to the point of them going extinct!

@@costco_pizza nope... Jupiter is not part of the habitable zone. Where the temp is just right, not too hot or too cold. And Jupiter is far away from the sun so if our planet orbited Jupiter it would freeze up. Oh yeah and Earth would not be a planet anymore it would be classified as a moon.

Well, there's no reason not to. It has gigantic size, its mass is colossal, its surface temperatures are well above 400K with a rotational period of just 9 hours and also it has a storm that's the size of 3 Earths which persisted for more than three centuries. You should be scared of Jupiter but that shouldn't stop anyone from admiring its beauty. It is a beautiful planet with colors and patterns, other gas giants have plain colors (Saturn is yellow, Neptune and Uranus are blue) while Jupiter has a cascade of colors across its body. I love Jupiter but it also scares me but that suits something so massive that we can't really comprehend how big it is until we travel to it someday.

Best part about the video was the credits. Not being rude but I really like it when media sources credit their sources and writers. You can tell NatGeo is a legitimate source as compared to other "Informative" youtube channels simply by seeing that. How well are Jupiter's moons shielded from solar winds?

Very very well, Jupiter has a ridiculous magnetic field and unlike earth it doesn't come from an Iron core, Jupiter's comes from it's Liquid Magnetic Hydrogen which means it can shield a huge distance. The problem is though, with Jupiter having such a strong magnetic field it's not solar winds you should be worrying about, it's the Jupiter's radiation. Europa for example gets 1,800 times as much radiation per day than the earth gets at sea level a year. That means humans without sheilding would have a 50% mortality rate after just 30 days. But, Europa is still habitable if we created under water colonies far beneath the ice sheets and combat micro gravity... It's just as or more habitable than Mars. It's just life there would be far from what we on Earth would call normal. Similar to cloud cities on Venus.

The moons are in Jupiter's magnetic field but like Earth's Van Allen belt, its magnetic field traps in energetic charged particles from solar winds creating its own Van Allen belt. Due to this, the moons still receive a toxic dose of radiation even though they are well inside Jupiter's protective magnetic field
