The casting of Richard Attenborough in this role is funny to me for two reasons 1) Richard Attenborough was also a director. He won the Best Picture and Best Director oscars for Gandhi in 1982, aka the year that Steven Spielberg’s movie E.T - probably should have won those instead. So that’s nice that Steven Spielberg cast Richard Attenborough in Jurassic Park. And the character was changed so he didn’t get eaten! . If I had lost an oscar to someone and they got cast in my monster movie, you better believe that they would die. Repeatedly. Instead - Hammond was one of the most recurring characters in the franchise! So I guess Spielberg is real gracious, which is nice. 2) Richard Attenborough was the brother of David Attenborough (yes THAT David Attenborough), so to me it’s funny that Richard is probably most well known for a character that interacts with the one animal that David Attenborough will never see. Like, I’m imagining them at dinner and Richard is like so you got to hang out with whales, sweet, I held a baby velociraptor in my hand!
My mother loved Richard Attenborough and John Mills and when they came to our picture house off she’d go to see them both in whitch we serve was her favourite
