I can. For one the models and animation are way better. The raptors here seem to have tiny arms, the pteranodons look flat, and the movements and "acting" of the dinosaurs was far superior in TLW aracade too. Shooting seemed to have an animated effect on things, raptors would stop for a second and look as their pack-mates were shot out, the movement as they leaped through the enviroment was much more natural and fluid. The dinos were either blown away or wince when shot instead of just awkwardly flashing orange. The large theropods in this game move almost like South Park characters. The rooster of dinosaurs and enviroments is much more limited. The only dinosaurs this game has than the former did are Ankylosaurus and Spinosaurus, while the other had Deinosuchus, Pachycephalosaurus, Carnotaurus, Mamenchisaurus and then even some other background species you didn't fight against but were part of the interacting background. The game also have multiple weapons. The only thing this game has going for it it's that dodge mechanic which could be put to some interest use on a more competent game.
Well, honestly I mostly play alone. I don't have friends, and I don't want to go to the arcade. That is why I bought the games to play at home. I feel it is the best way for me.
About emulating the Konami Viper system: I'm not so much into cracking stuff, but www.mamedev.org/ should have any info on the progress. The Viper system in general is one of the still modern systems before Konami started using PC-hardware. Based on the Power-PC CPU and the classical 3DFx polygon chips it shouldn't be too hard to make the games playable with todays emulators.
I remember when I was in elementary for a end of the year field trip we went to fun flex and this game was the only shooter game they had and all the boys would crowd around this game cabinet and I unfortunately never got to play this because the boys kept putting in tokens even after they completed the whole game.
I remember playing this game with my cousin before thanks giving at walmart in clearlake in the family arcade room but they change to the custumer service room .
Words of wisdom: Man is not an island. They don't win with just strategy and strength, but ALSO with allies. When you played Jurassic Park 3, you were dying a lot. It's you're choice, just remember playing games are better with friends. That's how I mostly play. How do you mostly play? Thank you 😌
The Lost World game looked way better than this and that was from 4 years earlier. Theres a reason they stopped making these and it's because they looked like video games in the 80s
Some really nice environments in this game, and really nice models on the dinosaurs. The walk/run cycles for both the Dino’s and humans are pathetic however.
Yes, in deed Konami is no more. It is not much more than a holding company these days, investing and harvesting whatever they calculate is good for business. Times are hard, one needs to jump ship onto smaller boats to stay afloat. We seem to be regressing to something like the middle ages. Technology is getting more and more integrated, modulized, eats itself up till nobody but a few understand its magic. Only when there is nobody left to supply us we will wake up to start the cycle over again. Hopefully with some documentation on how to do it.
I'll tell you one thing. Even though Lost World had the better arcade game, I wish the final confrontation was in an area surrounded by hellish fire like this one. How awesome would that have been if you went mano y diente against a pissed off Tyrannosaurus in what could be best described as the closest thing to the pits of hell with dinosaurs!
I feel like nitpicking here, but why is the area where the pterosaurs dwell called the "Bird Cage?" I know lots of people believe that these flying creatures were related to birds, but I find that to be baloney. Birds are birds, and reptiles are reptiles. These two animals are only related in that they are both living creatures.
Well, as we know more and more about dinosaurs, which btw means "big lizard" meaning that they are reptiles, then again can we be sure that they in deed were reptiles? I mean all we have are bones, fossilised ones at that. You know they're saying that birds today are the only living relatives of the dinos, right? And birds aren't lizards. Ah well, I'm surely wrong about it. I'm not a geologist.
Tomas Dahlgren I don't know if you're right or wrong. Dinosaurs may have well been birds instead of reptiles. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful; just wanted to clarify something.
@@sonicstar917 Maybe it's like human evolution where they say that we evolved from primates and yet there are still primates in this world. The same could be said for dinosaurs where there were some that evolved into birds and some that remained reptiles after evolution.
The UI says they are using pistols, but the in game cut scenes show shotguns with pistol grips. Either they are using pistols of unusual size or their shotguns have been rifled and are using slug rounds. Also if you had lead your targets better you would have killed the boss pteranodon sooner.
Thanks for your tips, Tirimor. This will probably come as a surprise, I'm the kind of guy that takes pleasure in wasting ammo, especially in videogames where ammo is free. The score actually comes second.
Well it's the most important rule in "how to kill airborne and or faster enemies 101". While you don't waste ammo that much, there has been times in this playthrough that you got hit because you had to reload when you had to shoot, like in this video where that white velociraptor was right in your face and you were caught with your pants down because you had no bullets left.
Also, I think this game would have benefited more by having weapon upgrades. Usually light gun games have some form of weapons upgrade, traditionally either a shotgun, a machine gun of some sort of a grenade launcher.
Not to mention, I feel like this games accuracy is a mixed bag. There are times were you were able to hit spot on, while others you completely missed what was right in front of you.
That may have been due to the fact that I was sitting on a chair leaning backwards drinking coffee at the same time I was shooting, celebrating getting a pair of guns for my Viper board. I'm not ready to play this game for score, or skill.
+dopelgerzzec Unfortunately no, it still doesn't even boot into the game - have just checked a few minutes ago (and that's why I finally landed here, being curious what kind of game it is and how does it look like).
+dopelgerzzec I agree with you - it's a very cool and definitely good looking game for its time. But don't worry - it's just a matter of time, as usual with MAME. We just need faster CPUs and some more patience. :)
I think the CPUs are OK today, if you run Mame in 64-bit OS you get pretty good frame rates in the newer games. You need to crack the hardware, Konami's VIPER. There's some security on there.
Ok. I also think there's some text missing, as I know that we chatted about several things regaring the subject. That's strange because I've not done anything. Could it be some bot or word detector?
Dammit. It's like our complete chat has been removed!? WTF..? I assure you that I wasn't aware of this. You're sure it was in this thread/video? I've got a few Jurassic III clips.
I also lost you in the history, you know when you click on that bell up right and select earlier read posts. That is in deed strange. I don't know how it would be possible to delete that. So, Austin, ask away and I'll reply. Let's see if any of the earlier topic related stuff will get 'lost'. Alright?
No a problem Is there any way to improve the quality of Recording, like record to a VCR, or something, instead of straight up using a camera and the sulting flicker that comes with tube tellies? With LCDs it's fine but the guns wouldnt work... Hmmm...
@@uncletom1971 Lost world, Dino Stalker, Jurassic park arcade, this just looks like a bad light gun game at all, even compare to the other light gun games. You can't have a good light gun game with Puppet Combo quality.
You mean SEGA's Lost World Jurassic Park? Perhaps you are correct. But it is still relative, many gamers of that day consider this to be a quite good game. What do you demand of a shooting game?
