It wouldn’t if the story and characters weren’t solid as great as the dinosaurs and effects are. It’s really intelligent, the morality debate the uses and dangers of big business and science, but also that whole subplot about Grant not liking kids. If people didn’t care about the characters and the dialogue wasn’t great it wouldn’t last.

@@Mr.Goodkat the story is no near lacking, its complete from beginning to end. the characters are not the best of all time, but are good and interesting. "too much dinosaurs chasing people" and then you realise only the last 15 minutes of the film are actually that. you should rewatch.
@Mr.Goodkat
@Mr.Goodkat Год назад

@@Mr.Goodkat running with the galimimus(they weren't chasing them) before hiding and observing the t-rex hunting food. Speeding with the car for 3 minutes from the t-rex, and then the final 15 minutes where they are being attacked by raptors, chased by them etc. The most entirety of the movie is either appreciation for the creatures, or trying to get out of the island, not being chased unstop for most of the time. You do indeed need to rewatch the movie.
@Mr.Goodkat
@Mr.Goodkat Год назад
@@MigWith OK but it feels longer than 15 minutes and that's what matters, it has very little suspense in it too and instead of the final scene being the greatest (always wise) it gets it's best scene out of the way when the T-Rex first breaks loose so it feels anti-climatic.

Treating the dinosaurs like animals and not monsters (or domesticated raptors) is one of many reasons the new films don't hold a candle to the original. That and Phil Tippet's animation direction to make them believable
@ThelegoLord
@ThelegoLord Год назад
Not that I have a problem with that but I kinda miss how dinosaurs actually used to be terrifying. That’s what made them iconic, them treating Dino’s as normal animals is a nice new trope but it kinda killed the fear of what made dinosaurs scary. Video games like dino crisis, Turok, King Kong and Jurassic the hunted followed the terror trope and this is the main reason why many people got into dinosaurs including myself. Jurassic park was the foundation of it all but the video games that followed after built it. With the new Jurassic world movies kinda wanted to imply the whole animal political movement which I feel like killed the whole scary dinosaur vibe for me.

@@sandervw123 You're right. "Underrated" is the most overused word on RU-vid. It's almost always wrong, like for an Academy Award-winning actress. A billion-dollar movie underrated? No. Awards? It has 44 wins including 3 Oscars and 27 more nominations in other contests. Who's underrating it? The trolls or bots or idiots who post "underrated" never say. Siskel and Ebert despite their criticism and saying it's too intense for little kids gave it 👍👍.

Thank you for this! I remember watching some of this on the original bonus DVD features back in the day, and this has been awesome to see an updated version. Seeing some of these legends... Stan Winston, Michael Crichton, Richard Attenborough, Rob Peck... simply legends of the industry. Thank you very much for this behind the scenes into cinema history, and genuinely my favorite film of all time!

Never get bored of watching this film. Or anything by Steven Spielberg. Master storyteller and film maker.

I find the "behind the scenes" " How it's made" stuff endlessly fascinating and entertaining. For some it's technical and tedious and would rather not see how the sausage is made. For myself, it informs and enhances my appreciation of the film.

Such a classic! What an amazing production journey to even make this movie possible! The birth of CGI truely started right here on JP! I'll never forget as a kid watching this movie in theatres for the first time and seeing how real the dinos looked.

I was at Sixth Form college when this film came out on VHS. I lent my copy to my Spanish teacher so her son could see it. Apparently he told all his classmates he was going to see Jurassic Park, he was so excited

Jurassic Park is one of those timeless movies that has aged like fine wine. Even today it holds up and stands its ground firmly against most newer movies. JP1 and The Lost World are my favorites of the movies, all of them are amazing and I love watching through all of the movies with my nephews and watching their reactions to the dinos just like I did when I was a child.

Nostalgia is what this movies brings back for me. The original and best Jurassic park movie ever, perfect cast (R.i.p Hammond) and better Cgi than the new movies to date.

Initially Soielberg saying that he made this movie “as a kid” mades total sense and rhats why won every single kid ever, and now its why we all love him and stand by hin every time.

The thing I liked about the original Jurassic Park was that it felt like real life. It felt as if it could actually happen the way it played out. The near misses and stunts seemed believable. The story line was relatively simple and believable. It had a more gradually building, sci-fi feel to it. I think as the franchise went on that got more and more lost in the films. They became more about the action and CGI than anything else. One thing I cant stand is when a movie just becomes all about showing off CGI skills... Like we get it, computers are awesome..

I went to see this in theaters back in 1993. It was my birthday. I was eight. When that first Brachiosaurus came into frame, my eyes were as wide as saucers. My jaw hit the ground. I knew going in there would be dinosaurs, but seeing it on the big screen was pure magic.

In August 1992, my Mother was 7 months pregnant with me, a future Dinosaur lover who’s lord for dinosaurs began with this movie. Could you imagine the film you’re currently filming is going to have a profound impact on a human being who was developing at the exact same time? I didn’t even see this movie until I was like 5 or 6.

The behind the scenes T-Rex footage actually looks scarier than the scene in the movie, because it isn't "filmed", it looks like a news recording, found footage sort of. What an experience it must have been to enter the studio and see that huge beast swivel through the room and then, when you tell yourself, yeah it's just a thing, it just blinks...
