JURASSIC WORLD BATTLE AT BIG ROCK | BETTER THAN THE MOVIES - Double Toasted - Today at Double Toasted we take a look at the Jurassic World short film that was released online yesterday called JURASSIC WORLD BATTLE AT BIG ROCK, or some are just calling it ‘Battle at Big Rock’. In this funny video, we don’t give our usual Jurassic World At Big Rock review, instead we do a general Jurassic World Battle At Big Rock reaction while discussing things we would like to see them do in the Jurassic World 3 movie. After Jurassic World, and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, we are a little sick of these Dinosaur movies, but does this short film give us hope? Find out by watching! Gotta drop a bit of the science: having been around elephants when they're just casually walking around, they're actually hard to notice. A couple of recent studies have shown that dinosaurs (particularly the big carnivores) had adaptations in their foot structure that made them capable of walking just as quietly to the point where once they were within about 25 meters of you, you actually wouldn't be able to feel much of a difference regardless if they were 5 or 20 meters away. (Of course, this doesn't change the fact that the movies are inconsistent with their own (incorrect) logic on this with the _T. rex_ ripples, but the scene with the _Allosaurus_ first approaching unnoticed is a lot more accurate.)

My response to quiet dinosaurs is that if you compare them to large living animals of today (elephants, bison, rhinos. etc), they don't make tons of noise with every step they take so maybe dinosaurs would be similar in that regard. As for the predatory dinosaurs, they'd be hard pressed to ever catch prey if they made tons of noise with every move they made. The only thing that throws my theory out in this movie universe is the water ripples from the first JP. P.S. good to see Goodwin back in the studio!

Its actually accurate for their footsteps to be quiet. Theropod dinosaurs had padded feet like birds and elephants. They evolved that feature to ambush their prey, which allosaurs in particular, were specialized to do. Speaking of elephants, they are about the same weight and sometimes more but do not shake the earth when they walk. Outside of leaves and twigs, it be somewhat quiet. The earth shake was added by spielberg to add tension. Sorry for the random nerd fact of the day.

I get where y'all are coming from about the footsteps being quiet, but elephants are about the same size, and they walk quiet all the time, even with larger, flat feet. Plus, you gotta consider the allosaurus is a hunter, it's gotta be able to sneak up on it's prey sometimes. The point is, bigger animals can be sneaky.

I felt so bad for that baby. He didn’t know what was going on, he was tossed around aggressively inside the RV when the dinosaurs attacked and he was clearly scared of the whole situation. So I agree, I found it disturbing too.

I agree with Goodwin, kids should get eaten as well. If that were to happen you would get real tension and you'd be fearing for the kid's lives because they established that kids can be killed as well and even they aren't safe. I was never worried about kid characters in these movies because we all know they're going to be alright and if they're in a real bad situation they're somehow going to make it out ok with probably just a few bruises or cuts. Unfortunately I know damn well that Universal isn't going to do that with the Jurassic series.

Times have changed. They'll never kill a child. I remembered watching The Blob (1988). Ok, it was R rated and deservingly so. The blob ate a boy, very graphic, it took me by surprise. In a good way. Maybe Jurassic World can do something like that.

to answer korey's question about teleporting dinosaurs it obvious that the allosaurus (and the t rex from the series) are being silent to sneak up on their prey. as far as something being so big that its silent, well elephants can be very quiet when they want I've experienced this first hand to my surprise.

Tyrannosaurus is a predator and in order to eat it has to approach its prey slowly and quietly. We've seen lions, bears and tigers stalk prey in nature films. We have to assume that T-rex will also hunt quietly as possible.

I love this short...it was pretty awesome to me...ppl do illogical shit all the damn time...one of the reasons I have an awesome career and stay very happily and gainfully employed (firefighter/paramedic) sounds harsh, but it’s the truth. And as far as the “teleporting” there’s a difference when animals are on the hunt and know they have to be quiet as opposed to just stumbling upon something...obviously these ppl have no kids, that’s exactly what a child would do...explain some shit they learned. Like I said, to me, this was pretty realistic...a lot of ppl say what they would do but when it comes down to a real emergency, they’ll be dead or seriously injured because they panicked and did some dumb shit...

Lostworld is a mix of opinions, a lot of people call it the best sequel but some call it the worst sequel. It’s widely agreed upon that JP3 is the weakest one because the plot is just running away from Dinosaurs without characterization and a good script.

OH! To be fair, regarding Arnolds death in the first movie. Originally there was a scene planned where we get to see him enter the bunker up to the point where he gets attacked, but because of the storm they had to ditch the scene. I quote: "I was actually supposed to go to Hawaii, to shoot my death scene. But there was a hurricane that destroyed all the sets. So I didn't get to go to Hawaii."

actually, i kinda like this short in the sense that they treat the dinosaurs as natural animals, not movie monsters. this is one of the aspect that i love the original Jurassic Park for (well, in parts, this is not always the case even for that movie). in this universe dinosaurs is a thing, Jurassic World the theme park was in operation for years before the first JW movie, the premise of that movie was the fact that people grew "bored" of seeing dinosaurs, they're just zoo animals to them now. so when those big ass horned dinosaurs showed up, to them it's like a bunch of wild deer, some big ass deer but still just deer, so they just stay inside their RV and wait for them to go away. when the carnivore shows up that's a different situation, but then again, what can they possibly do other than watch. when a wild animal got hurt, it will be scared away, again these dinosaurs are wild animal, they're not Freddy Krueger, you whack it in the head a couple times and shoot some arrows in it's head, it will be scare and run away. it's like tips for wild animal encounter, aim for the eye.

@10:34 That's the problem with movies these days.......all the tension came from knowing the big danger was coming up closer but you didn't see it immediately. It would build until a point and then....reveal. Movies from the 80's did that the best. REAL WORLD PHYSICS SHOULD NOT BE OVERLOOKED!!!

I liked the short, mostly. The adults' "duh" reaction to the crying baby was odd, but this short was well-shot, decently acted and exciting. Kids (as secondary characters) are fine, just make sure that they are out of diapers, mobile and reasonable.

We actually enjoy the Jurassic movies including Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom because they’re where great movies. You don’t have to put better than the movies because we enjoy them so much so by far. Great review. I saw this movie and it’s one of my anticipated movies in 2019, it may not be as good as the other two Jurassic movies but it’s fun and exciting sequel.

Your first point about dinosaurs not being able to sneak up on you makes no sense. Some of them are predators. They need to be able to ambush their prey. Of course they can walk silently. It doesn't matter that they're big. An elephant can move incredibly quietly if it wants to.

Nobody would be THAT CALM while running from a dinosaur. They should all be screaming but instead they’re acting like it’s two normal animals you see every day doing battle. Wtf? I would piss my fucking pants if I saw a dinosaur!

26:35 Actually, they were originally going to film Samuel L. Jackson's death. They had it set up and everything (in Hawaii, I believe). But before they could film it, there was a hurricane and it ruined the entire set, that's why his death was offscreen in the movie. :)

I was like feed the baby to the dino! Lol! This short was WAY BETTER than the second JW movie. I am still looking forward to the next movie. Hopefully no more genetic dinos!

They don't even factor in smell, with both Zombies and Dinosaurs you'd smell them before they got very close just like a skunk or large animals like cows or horses.
