You got the story of the video right. The boy lost his mother and he was depressed so his father decided to go with him to his Grandfather who lives at the lake shore so that they can go for ice fishing in order to distract the boy from his grief. They go for fishing but a storm separates them that is how the boy ends up alone. The scenes of the video clip with the spirit are not detected in the movie, only Diana's voice is heard as the spirit, because the spirit is implied in the movie it self. In the video clip Diana her self plays the spirit, she filmed these scenes underwater by diving over and over in a pool, age is not only a great singer but also a great actor. As for the song it self, it is one of the best I heard this year and the video clip is definitely the best. She was recently invited in a Hans Zimmer Concert where she sang the themes of James bond "No time to die" and "Dune". The main theme of the movie "Dune" is especially impressive, she goes all out with her powerful voice, this performance should be experienced by everyone so you should check it out.

The literal story, which you got pretty much right, functions as metaphor. The ice-covered lake is the boy's heart, frozen by grief following the loss of his dead mother. The spirit within the lake is the boy himself. Ultimately, it is only by his own soul-searching that he can come to terms with his grief so as to live and love again. (The metaphor is evident in the lyrics and also in the visuals, e.g. which contain images of Diana's face, and of her hand, being reflected by - and so apparently being interior to - the boy's eye.)

The plot of this video is as follows: The boy got lost at night on the ice of Lake Baikal. He has no strength and he lies and freezes. In winter, in extreme cold, in order not to freeze, you need to move continuously! According to legends, Lake Baikal is guarded by its spirit. So this spirit sees a freezing motionless boy and decides to save him. The spirit (performed by Diana) appears before the boy in the image of his deceased mother and tells the boy to move, otherwise he will freeze to death! Then, in the image of the spirit of Baikal, the boy scares a little and he starts to move - this saves him! Morning comes and the boy goes to the shore of the lake, where he is rescued by adults who are looking for him all night!
