There's a mode to transfer Warden's Keep stuff (including Bloodthirst, which is much more important) to Awakening and beyond. One of two mods I consider "baseline" (the respec crow being the other as its function was literally copy-pasted into base Awakening) as you shouldn't lose a part of core gameplay, esp. considering all the other DLCs transfer normally

@memefficient man, I JUST got past the initial prologue/meeting your underlings in Amaranthine, now I've gotta do it all over again just for a cool sword :/ But continuity is continuity. Starfang was my Cousland's signature weapon for 3/4ths of Origins and I wanted that to continue when I do Awakening and Witch Hunt. Btw thanks for the information.

The Battledress is best in slot chestpiece with Felon's Coat being a close second for almost any rogue and warrior build, I'd recommend having both, but some players may miss the opportunity to buy it, so it' hasn't been used in my "mainstream" builds' playthroughs... yet. The DLC stuff (most notably the Edge and Lucky Stone) you can download and install for free (check the wikis), Reaper's Cudgel can be swapped for a Veshiale w/o sacrificing much but the cash or even a budget versions like Duncan's Sword/Blightblood, other gear isn't that impactful and can be safely swapped for w/e we have

At what point would you suggest turning off dual striking ? At which point are crits a bigger deal than dual striking ?
@memefficient
@memefficient 2 года назад
Depends on your setup. DS is great in the earlygame since we have almost 0 crit. chance/damage amplifiers and spikes a lot after taking the Dual Weapon Mastery w/ a dagger/heavy offhand weapon. If you want the strongest singletarget damage - it's the way to go up until the Awakening or at least lvlcap (25). For general purposes, I'd say it starts falling off at around lvl 10-15 with the majority boosts to crits already in play (Kailan's gloves, Dace's amulet, flanking, Precise Striking...) and we've got Starfang+Reaper's Cudgel/Veshialle. Remember that w/o a fix DS will always miss in 1 of its 3 animations, which can lead to some frustrating moments, as well as "where big numbahs" syndrome - that's the main reason I personally avoid using it later :) Hope that answers your question!

I know this is an old video but I'm curious as to how you unlocked berserk so easily? I thought you had to go to denerim or the Dwarven city first?
@memefficient
@memefficient 2 года назад
Only for the first time. IIRC, you can also just make an Awakening warrior character and it will unlock Berserk specialization automatically. If it's not the case, then yes, save your game and go to Denerim straight from arriving in the Lothering once you have around 13g (including equipped gear which we can sell as well, so it shouldn't be a problem at all) and get a manual from Gorim. Use it and load the save - you now have the spec. unlocked and keep the money. Same works with the Templar (also Ranger, Spirit Healer, Bard and Assassin from other classes), although it's very easy to gain enough approval from Alistair to unlock it before hitting lvl 7 Hope that helps!

Great guide but how do dual wielding warriors fare against dual wielding rogues? I don't see the point since rogues have backstabs, stealth, lockpicking and more skills. Am i missing something? What are the advantages of the warrior? I've never done that build so that's why im asking
@memefficient
@memefficient 3 года назад
You might want to check out my backstab rogue guide as well for some references, but in general it goes like this: Warriors with Berserk spec. are better than rogues in just about everything until the latter get their hands on the Tainted Blade from the Warden's Keep and hit level 10-12. Then their damage begin gradually fading. Warriors provide significantly less damage for the lategame (no double-stat dip +penetration from the Tainted Blade w/ full Cunning rogue builds), but are much more consistent with it via their Precise + Perfect Striking. Not having to rely on backstabbing (there are a few BS-immune enemies) or even maneuvering around the targets at all helps as well. The main strength Warriors have over the rogues is their ability to become totally immune to magic on-demand and completely shut down the enemy casters while also ignoring the ally's AoE spells. Rogues have far more damage in their prime, but it have to be pursued constantly, while the warriors just mow their way down the line. Hope it helps!
@MrStinkels
@MrStinkels 3 года назад
@@memefficient Thanks a lot Yeah some shield enemies and some enemies like the golems are immune to backstabs so the rogue's dps really goes to shit in those situations. Maybe I missed something but how can warriors become magic immune?
@memefficient
@memefficient 3 года назад
@@MrStinkels Templar spec. allows us to get the Templar-Commander armour for +40% magic resist, the Spellward amulet provides us with another 30% (we also don't suffer too much from abandoning the +6 Cun House Dace amulet). Unlike rogues that slot the paralyze runes to get Coup De Gras stabs upon the unBS-able enemies, we can opt for going full Dweomer, clocking at around 24% per 6 runes (can't do full Grandmaster and/or even Master ones, but there are still about 3-4 of them in the world). Lastly, we've got the Cinch belt and the Key ring for the final 14%. 40+30+14+24ish would be around 105-110% of spell resist (we can add even more - 4% from Ancient Elven gloves, for instance), which is about right to shove off almost any spell in the game (if it's possible to do so, of course). And the only sacrifice for this would be the armor (Provocateur is the way to go mostly), switching which mid-fight doesn't affect us at all, unlike the weapon switches that auto-sheathes our weapons. And, yeah, Spirit Warrior in Awakening is completely broken. Can't say it to THAT extent about the rogues.

@memefficient
@memefficient Год назад
DPS-wise - no, Bloodthirst also provides us with crit. Moreover, investing in Haste for Morrigan is a severe delay for her other combat duties - controlling and mage/crowd-clearing via Manaclash or Storm. We'll also become dependandt on Morrigan, thus both reducing or party's flexibility and losing out on damage from her.

Yo can you do a tank warrior build. That would be interesting to see
@memefficient
@memefficient 4 года назад
You mean, the sword and shield warrior? Because any PC will be a tank with its damage being the highest, and any warrior can easily draw aggro on bosses via Taunt. For the sword'n'board warrors - probably later, one of the least effective builds for PC's, but it will be covered in the companions bulds for sure.
@Sanvone
@Sanvone 3 года назад
@@memefficient @Memefeccient approach I've been dipping into Shield DPS myself lately. One thing that I would like to say is: Aura of Pain + Threaten + Traps + Poison stacking seems decent.
@memefficient
@memefficient 3 года назад
@@Sanvone Well, yes... and no. The main downside of the shield warrior isn't the single-target damage, actually - it's pretty decent. As you've mentioned, you've had to rely on the auxillary sources of AoE damage (AoP, Threaten, traps, poisons) because of complete lack of one in the shield trees - and as for me, it's almost unbearable to fight through the horde of lesser enemies, picking them one by one (mostly by autoing them to death, since the abilities begin to shine only close to the lvlcap) while the TH's and archers get their AoE at lvl 10 or earlier (Scattershot lacks the lvl req. IIRC), and these come with a built-in heavy CC as well! So, yes, shield warriors are capable of dishing out some damage and are slightly more tanky due to their stances, but they come online too little too late to be called "competitive" as a build path for already the least competitive (in the vanilla that is) class. The third wave of builds, if it'll happen at all, will have it covered it for sure, though :)
@oscar57722

What about Reaver as 2nd spec for the dual wield warrior? is it good?
@memefficient
@memefficient 2 года назад
It's decent. Not as effective as w/ STR-maxed 2-hander builds, but still can fear most enemies. Heal on demand is great as well. I'd say it's slightly worse than the Templar overall since warriors hate mages and other hard CC-ers, but it has its merits and is more viable than the Champion for the PC. Also, it requires only 2 points to unlock its most powerful tools, which is great if you're leveling w/o elfroot boosting!
@oscar57722
@oscar57722 2 года назад
@@memefficient I see, at first I was thinking that Champion was the best option but I think it would be redundant considering that I already have Alistair with champion, now I am between reaver or templar. By the way, isn't Blood Thirst bugged? I haven't played as a warrior yet but doing some research I saw that an ability from the dual weapon tree makes damage to yourself when you used Blood Thirst or something like that.
@memefficient
@memefficient 2 года назад
You can make a save before a location with high enemy density (ideally - Haven, blood mages' safehouse in Denerim, Jarvia's place or Deep Roads) and try their performance there, then compare the feeling. The game isn't hard at all, so it's more about having fun than minmaxing As for the BT - yep, you'll get additional bleed damage (7 or 12 in 5 seconds, IIRC), so either get backed by Wynne and use it frequently or treat it as a cooldown, toggling it on only to burst someone/close the distance. It's the reason I never swap Wynne out in the footage, otherwise the game slows down significantly :)
@oscar57722
@oscar57722 2 года назад
@@memefficient Well it's my first time playing as a warrior but i didn't give it a chance because i find it too boring to play, dual wield warrior seems to be the most fun by far so i wanted to make sure i create a good character and not screw it up too much. You're right, the game isn't that hard so I guess I'm just going to pick the spec that I like the most :D As for Blood thirst, well I always have Morrigan and Wynne with me as support/healer mages so i guess Blood Thrist is a viable option even with that bug. Also thanks for the help, I thought no one was going to answer me lol great video and guide too :)

Another great video. Just a simple questions. Why do you focus on DW instead on S&S or TW ( yeah, i know two handed are really slow) you switch armors just for magic resistance? And why berserker and templar and not other combinations? What difficulty are you on? What about will wpoer and constitution ??? Thanks for quick quick response.
@memefficient
@memefficient 3 года назад
Thanks, appreciated! As for the questions, let's answer them in the same order, so... 1) DW is better for both damage (due to the ability sets and, effectively, doublescaling the +dmg bonuses w/ them) and survivability (due to more runeslots and dexterity) if played somewhat optimally. S&S is quite a lackluster 'till the very last levels, even compared to the other warrior builds (and that's the weakest class @ early-midgame!) Twohanders are not that far behind, though and also have some neat tricks of their own - I'll cover them in a separate video... hopefully... ahem, back to the questions. 2) Yep, other gear is rarely ever has to be switched outside of total minmaxing (Elven gloves for +4% magic res, for instanse) and is not very practical nor effective outside of these 2 chestpieces. 3) These 2 specs are vital for our role cover as a tank-bruiser, or a juggernaut, if you wish - dishing our more damage (Berserk) and brushing off the punishment (Templar and Berserk's regen). The other 2 are more CC-support heavy and have little to no use for the mid-lategame, sadly. The Reaver spec is wonderful for a full STR-based character, though, and, again, will be covered in a Two-hander section. 4-6) That's a max-difficulty only channel, so Nightmare it is. The thing with the auxiliary stats is that they're just... auxiliary. No need to invest in them outside of the Fade and gear bonuses. Both of the Willpower components are also accompanied by our Templar spec (saves) and the Death Blow (energy regen), while the Constitution is not that great being a flat bonus w/o some level scalings - so it's kinda useless, sadly. Hope that helps!
@adrianblania5565
@adrianblania5565 3 года назад
@@memefficient Damn, thank you really, for the fast response 1)SO in your opinion Warrior : DW then 2H and then sword and shield. That is stupid, because none of the characters starts as a two handed warrior. XD For me personally 2H should have more group attack skills in origin. 2) so you relly on light armor most of the time? - is that not dangerous ? Or the dex bonus helps a lot? And the magic resistance gear only on occasions ? 3) ok, that makes a lot of sense. So reaver gonna be covered in a 2H warrrior video, sweet 4-6) Then I am glad I found this channel
@memefficient
@memefficient 3 года назад
Well, we have 2 two-hander companions, prolly that's the reason why, I dunno. It is kinda stupid, but 1 talent is almost nothing for a warrior since they have only 2 talent rows and their specializations have most of their talents lined up at the beginning of their respective rows (the only freat "capstione" is the Smite, which is situational). As for the AoE department, that has been rectified in Awakening, where two-handers get access to 2 of the most devastating AoE abilities of the martial classes, while the DW-ers get their bossmelters 9000. As for the light armor - the Provocateur has 9+5=14 armor (compared to 22 of the best massive ones) and tons of good stuff (15% dodge, 50 stamina + regen and +4 dex) - it's hands down the best armor for ANY martial spec in the game (yep, even for the two-handers) in general scenarios, so we swap it when we need some extra magic protection. In other cases, it's by far the best choice in both offensive and defensive departments up to Awakening (there are a few pieces surpassing this one there). It's also worth mentioning that its fatigue is much lower and we still retain the ability to shoot effectively in it. The best replacement for the Battledress would be Evon the Great's Mail from restocked Herren.
@adrianblania5565

@@memefficient ok. Thanks for the tip. So basically when it comes to specs it is not worth to wait to 'earn' any specs and just buy berserker and templar manual ASAP. What do to think about the duelist and hunter specs of the rouge in nightmare? I know rouge should backstab but the duelist front approach seems tempting.
@memefficient
@memefficient 3 года назад
@@adrianblania5565 duelist is surprisingly efficient for an archer and decent for meelee as well. The ranger is more of a support option (fits Leliana just right), but it's also an enabler for soloing nightmare as rogue - it's invaluable for the goal.
@hplcmove1618
@hplcmove1618 Год назад
Is there any DLC you're using for the build ?
@memefficient
@memefficient Год назад
Well, most of them, in some capacity - core pieces being the Cailan's set (rerturn to Ostagar), Power of Blood ablities (Bloodthirst) and Ward.-Comm. set, if we want the chestpiece (Warden's Keep), helm of Honnleath (Stone Prisoner), Battledress (Leliana's song), Reaper's Cudgel (Golems) and Cinch (Witch Hunt). All of the items have viable alternatives in vanila and even being fully decked in such suboptimal gear won't degrade our power by much (15-20% damage at max, prolly closer to 5-10% in reality), but Bloodthirst is essential for solving tons of warrior's problems, such as mobility, critchance and attack speed increases, so playing w/o it will definitely make our life harder.
