I used to work at Best Buy and we had an e-waste recycling program where people could drop off electronics for recycle. Well some guy brought this in and recycled it. The customer service girl working at the time accepted it and put it behind the counter. She didn't know what it was. So I see it and I start freaking out and my boss demanded I throw it away. He refused to listen to reason, didn't wanna hear it. I played it for a week in my back repair area at the time; it was in perfect condition with the box too. I begged him and promised I wouldn't sell it if he just let me take it because it's part of history and he refused. Literally made me throw into an e-waste bin to get shredded. I'll never forgive him. Truly an evil man.
From what I learned in major retail, you shouldn't even had mentioned anything that started with a V, let alone had that out in plain view. Then again that lady would've switched you out if you snuck it out on your own volition- this is also why gun owners despise the city-wide gun "turn-in" events. This story just hurts but thank you for sharing
