For the first five months of the season, Stone was on fire! With a record of 11 wins and 5 losses, an ERA of 3.53 over 25 games, and 116 strikeouts, he was even in the conversation for Rookie of the Year! But, as we all know, baseball is full of ups and downs. On September 6th, Stone was placed on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation, and hopes of seeing him return this season started to fade.
Here’s where it gets interesting: this Tuesday, the Dodgers officially announced that Stone will not return this season, as they moved him to the 60-day injured list. While this decision was somewhat expected, it’s still disappointing, especially after everything he showed in the first few months of the year.
With Stone out of the rotation, the Dodgers have given an opportunity to the young Edgardo Henriquez, a pitcher who’s been rising fast through the minor leagues. He started the year in Rancho Cucamonga and is already impressing at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
