Woah this is nuts. This guy says he gives everyone haldol? Then he says it’s a good pain medication? Somebody needs to send a complaint to the medical board of his state. I have listened to board certification neurologists who treat outside the box. Not one of them recommend antipsychotics. Antipsychotics like Haldol had significant sometimes life altering side effects from very short duration of use they don’t even treat psychosis very well

Agree 100%! As a nurse for almost 20 years having worked in psych, geriatrics and also in addition treatment the amount of documentation required to administer Haldol vs any pain medication is mind numbing! I've also seen patients have the complete opposite reaction to Haldol and it increase psychosis to the point they have injured staff. The fact we're going this direction as healthcare workers is a complete embarrassment! This asshole should be ashamed.... but clearly he's not 😢

These people are nuts. The medical system is so broken. Im sorry but it is. I know first hand. Ive seen it. My wife who suffers from osteoarthritis of the jaw (severe) is told to go to the dentist. Yeah sure. Insurance doesnt cover dental for one. And two this is not your teeth. This is your jaw hinge joint. Its so infuriating. I really am not a hateful person but man these people really take the cake.

Doctor Mengle: are you willing to state publically you'll never take opioids for any reason and furthermore will you agree to speak for your family to make sure they never advocate for the use of opioids? My wife takes Haldol for bipolar illness, and I can state for absolute certainty that it does absolutely nothing for pain.

It's not brain failure, it's for herniated disc, fiber myalgia . This guy is the reason for so many suicides. He should be put on trial for abuse of pain patients.

She said, "They're not heroin addicts. They're prescription opioid addicts." Umm, what the hell is that classification exactly? So, there's people addicted to strong opioids and then people who are addicted to only weak opioids? Seriously, what does that comment imply? That's a whole other level of stupid. I don't think that nurse saying that has bad intentions. She's most likely trying to do the right thing. When someone says something like, though, it becomes clear the information they're receiving is incorrect. I would love for what that nurse said to be explained. That really doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

@@JinksDeJenn that’s an excellent point because in their whole push to remove stigma what they did is they dehumanized patient in pain who take opioids
@JinksDeJenn

@thedoctorpatientforum-dont9836 It's also just confusing. They can use other opioids to help people addicted to other opioids. They're all interacting with the same neuro chemicals. They just have different half lives. For example, we could very gently taper someone down from heroin by reducing them down to morphine, time released morphine, codeine, then something like tramadol, then off. This has been done before. We don't have to use Suboxone or Methadone. There's also the method that's used in Germany and some other places. They use medical grade heroin and slowly taper people off heroin for those who've become addicted to it from the illicit market. To suggest there's a difference is very strange. It's like she's saying if someone is addicted to fentanyl or heroin it's different than having an addiction to codeine, time released morphine, or an opioid like Tramadol or Vicodin. Codiene only lasts for four hours, and its withdrawal period is only 2 to 3 days. Morphine is a withdrawal period of a week. What that nurse said kind of implies she thinks there's something fundamentally different other than them just being a different opioid or opiate alkaloid and different half life. There also seems to be a lack of clarification between addiction and dependency; which I'm not a big fan of redefining how that works. We used to just call chemical dependency addiction, and that was that. Anything that causes withdrawal is addiction, aka chemical dependency. Anything else was just, it's fun or makes people feel good, so they want to use it, and it's really not that complicated to understand. If having a "substance use disorder" is to have a broken brain. Then we all have broken brains because we are all prone to our own addictions. Be it sex, drugs, gambling, video games, social media so on. We like things that make us feel good, it's not complicated. Some people have more self-control than others. Some over enduldge, but still have the self control to know when enough is enough. They're jumping through so many mental hoops to rationalize their position at this point. If they don't stop, they're going to have to end up completely redefining human behavior. Animals too, because they exhibit the same behaviors we do when it comes to this. Maybe you're right, maybe they're only doing it so other chronic pain patients. Idk, it's bizarre to me.

Maybe she was only talking about the drug seeking addicts. There are hard core IV street drug. Then people who take rx pills who would never use heroine and don't want to buy pills on the street. She doesn't clarify dependency, like a legitimate pain patient who's PM practice closed. They have their boxes that they put everyone in and don't have a box for legitimate pain patients... Some legitimate pain patients may be from surgery, an accident etc. Some are long term sufferers who have exhausted all treatments and surgeries to get better. Some are end of life or long term survivers of debilitating incurable diseases. Prop seem to have the 1 view all the time. I have only read, watched a dozen or so things about them so...they definitely suck. On the bright side, more and more know the pendulum swung too far and hurt us who need many treatments, many dr appointments for the rest of our lives, mind body spirit, long term care and nursing care to feel at least a little dignified living the rest of our lives trapped with a disease and the red tape of lifelong drs, insurance, disability social security. People like the prop idiots have no compassion or understanding what it's like to be a legitimate pain patient living decades with disease unable to work or provide. The orange dude who is running for president thinks the developmently disability should die if its hard to find care or family take care of them. He said it to his nephew. It's in his book. Prop doesn't care if a person is laying in filth, in pain unable to care for themselves , eat, shower and there are few visiting nurses, home care needs in the community. Vote

@@JinksDeJenn that’s exactly right because their goal was to stigmatized chronic pain, patients, and anyone who takes prescription opioids.
