Just how BAD is the Sims 4 Autonomy? 

The sims when their autonomy is being tested: 😇😇😇 The sims when I accidentally leave my game unpaused when I go pee: 👿🔥🔥

Me: put toddler in chair to eat. Click on plate to give to toddler Sim: pick child up out of chair and put them on the floor so they can eat on the floor 🤦🏿‍♀️

Ah yes, Sims 4 autonomy. I love spending 95% of my time getting my Sims to do anything BUT playing Blicblock

My sims constantly: - make food when there's freshly cooked food right in front of them - go on the computer - eat the sweets out of that spooky bowl - hide things somewhere in random places for you to find them after 2 years - put the toddlers in the highchair and leave them there without food or anything - watch TV - drink glasses of water

I KNOW EXACTLY WHY YOU HAD DOLLHOUSES BECAUSE EVERY TOWNIE THAT COMES INTO MY HOMES DESTROYS MY KIDS' DOLLHOUSES AND I DON'T GET IT

Not gonna lie, if I had to choose between speaking to Keanu Reeves or painting? Yeah I think we all know what we would choose.

My sim laughed herself to death so I resurrected her but everyone was still sad. She literally came up to her daughter and consoled them about her own death.

My biggest problem with the autonomy is when it comes to reading. Try to get my sim to read a book and they constantly stop reading it and put it back over and over again. Like finish the damn book already! And sometimes they put it back and pick out a new book and then start reading and then put that one back too

Problem with my sims is that I can’t trust them to cook by themselves. If they decide they want to cook because they’re hungry they’ll make a single serving of that meal and then just leave it on the table and go cook something else.

The autonomy is so bad, one of my Sims sat outside and froze to death for absolutely no reason. Like could have changed into a winter outfit, could have gone inside, no die because you don’t know how to walk.

Another thing that happens frequently in my game is that they change seats to talk while they eat. Let's say you have 2 sims eating at the table. If one of them suddenly wants to talk to the other, they will get up and move on another chair to talk. If they have a good relationship they will both get up and hug before they start talk and will sometimes even continue eating as they stand instead of at least sitting back down. Also, sims will almost always choose to do their homework on their bed instead of at a desk. It's crazy. If they are already on a chair in front of an empty desk and you tell them to do their homework, they will get up and go sit on the bed to do it. It drives me INSANE. Oh, and one more thing...if adult sims autonomously watch TV, they will pick the kids channel or a movie for kids and get the bored moodlet. All that while children will choose to watch Civic Public Access. How that that make sense???

I literally had to remove stereo because i couldn't stop my sims from dancing,like i tell them to do their homework but not even 20% is done and they stop doing the damn thing and then start dancing

I dont know about anyone else, but I wish they tweaked it, because I can never get my sims to do whatever I need them to do (like feed their kids, and help their kids do homework, and put their kids to bed, etc.), but I don't want to fully control my sims either, I wish there was a middle ground kind of thing if that makes sense.

Me : building a whole damn kitchen My sim : uses the little grill in the back of the garden to make hot dogs and than doesn't even eat them

please tell me i wasn’t the only one who read it as “anatomy” and not “autonomy” 💀

Sim: *is hungry* Sim: *cooks food* Sim: *ignores the cooked food and starts cooking again* every damn time also: they never eat the leftovers from the fridge

I’ve had Sims starve and drown because their autonomy doesn’t promp them to self-preserve themselves when their hunger/energy bar is on red.

My sims won't stop painting, but that's because they have the painting skill. They constantly start new paintings, but won't finish them because they get distracted vacuuming, it drives me insane. They also won't stop making cocktails they won't drink.

"They are just switching between talking and using their phones" kinda sounds awfully like real life tho :D

one of my sims literally proposed to his girlfriend 0.001 milliseconds after asking her to be this girlfriend, then 30 seconds later they eloped with each other before i could plan the damned wedding. and this was their first date

I have a sim that loves to paint, every easel in the house has a painting on it. Going to Uni for Fine Arts in an arts club... But there is something sims love the most in the game... Grilling.

Me: spends like 2 minutes taking care of SIM a. SIM b: I cooked 8 meals and im working on number 9, I'm starving, but I won't eat what I just cooked.

Me: Don’t sit!! My sims: *sits* Me: Sit down everyone for a cute family screenshot! My sims: I wanna watch TV!

Autonomy that gets on my nerves: 1. Sims putting their toddlers/pets down right when you make them pick them up. 2. Turing on every single fireplace in the house 3. Eating peas at 4 in the morning 4. Cooking random things on the grill and not eating them afterward 5. Browsing the web on their phone when I'm trying to do historical challenges or role-playing. Also this is something that gets on my nerves: Sims saying there is something in the way when there clearly isn't.

No one drinks? But...but mine drink all the time without being asked to, then left half full glasses everywhere 😔

I hate that they gravitate toward talking with other sims because without your input, they don’t even gain relationship points! They sit around and do the “chat” interaction only queuing up an actual social move like twice a sim hour.

I was screaming at the screen "Put down a fridge, you can't cook without a fridge" and I know others were too

Test 1 - Sims would rather be on their phones than paint - accurate to real life Test 2 - sims wold rather be on the internet than talk to people - accurate to real life Test 3 - Some sims will sit and chat together, others will just play on their phone - accurate to real life Test 4 - Some sims are couch potatoes, some sims want luxury, others will just play on their phone - accurate to real life Test 5 - Sims will prefer to dance than hydrate themselves, some sims will just play on their phone, mean sims will pretend to be nice before backstabbing people - accurate to real life Test 6 - (there was no fridge...so the results do not count) Test 7 - People will choose technology over old fashioned fun, some will just play on their phones - accurate to real life Test 8 - Sims will cook and eat when they are hungry, some will just play on their phones - accurate to real life What i learnt from these results is that this game truly is a life simulator. The game is not boring, our lives are just boring. Dude....that shit just got deep.

My sims are always missing but when i check the computers in the house they're there...

Even when they’re talking the autonomy is boring, it’s so easy to get along with someone else. In Sims 2, each sim had opinions on certain topics and if they talked about the wrong thing with a sim, they’d get bored and hate each other. It was so hard bonding with others Sims and raising relationships with them, but that’s what made it fun and realistic!

The doll house was probably to see them breaking the doll houses lol

I love it when my friend comes over and immediately makes a WHITE CAKE, leaves it there to make another one, repeat until they leave.

I HATE that my sims constantly go to their computer. Even sims who drop by go straight to it. I have to lock the door a lot to just keep them out. It's so annoying.

i forgot how good sims 3 autonomy was that when i played for the first time in a while, a sim i was trying to marry CHEATED on his own accord with AGNES CRUMPLEBOTTOM

I've been playing the sims 3 recently and I forgot how nice it is to leave my sims alone and know that they'll take care of themselves.

Plss do something about the parants' autonomy, because every game my babies almost "dies" because their parents just do the wrong interaction, if the baby is hungry they just change the diaper (Sorry about my english)

I tried doing a “24 hour sims challenge” about a year ago for April fools without telling my family... I ended up only eating apples (luckily my family had some) and watching twilight even though I really didn’t want to, my sim was watching some movie about werewolves and that was as close as I could get. I also ended up just standing in random places and weirding my family out. I feel sorry that my moms birthday is on April fools day.

My guests in sims 4 always come and cook cakes for some reason. And my fridge is full with damn cakes

My biggest issue is when my sim gets hungry, they'll cook a meal, set it down, and cook another meal and just keep doing it. Once I decided to see how many she'd cook, and she cooked 8 meals until she finally ate the last one cause hunger was dark red

I had my sims partying at that bar in San Myshuno with a pool and didn't notice they were all getting kinda tired. Then one of them decided they wanted to swim, pretty much immediately drowned, all their friends ran over to freak out about it but refused to walk away from the death pool. Instead, 5 Sims in a row jumped in and drowned despite me screaming at them clicking anywhere else for them to go 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃 in the end I had to do world travel to end the carnage.

I fell asleep in my chair the other night and when I woke up the game was still running. Somehow the apartment was clean without a second sim or maid, He was high AF from Basemental, mildly hungry from getting baked and 40k or so richer.

If someone came to my house and just went and used my computer i would kinda just lik- *drop kicks*

I'd be really interested to see these exact conditions replicated in Sims 2 and 3, like with similar traits given to the Sims. It would be really interesting to see the differences side by side!

I have a roommate in my game that won’t stop making cakes and leaving them literally EVERYWHERE. Like why?

Things I've learned from my own playthrough: 1) Sims seem to be more likely to do activities they are already skilled at. I have a musician/artist sim who will occasionally start a painting on her own or practice her music. The painting thing is admittedly pretty rare though. I also have an active sim who has maxed out his fitness, and he is constantly using the treadmill whenever he gets the chance. 2) Some sims seem to be better at autonomously taking care of themselves than others. I've got a household with 4 adult sims, and there are two (the active ones, weirdly) who constantly need my help to take care of their needs, or they will just let them go. However, one of the other two hardly ever needs my input and will eat, shower, use the toilet, and go to bed completely on his own, and I'm not sure why he's different. Heck, even the child of the two active sims is better at being autonomous than they are. I think maybe certain traits cause them to ignore their needs more in favor of certain activities. I'll need to test to find out. 3) My sims seem to have a hard time maintaining conversations with guests unless I'm actively involved. Maybe there are just too many other things to do in my house? It often seems like the instant I stop controlling one of the Sims making conversation, the entire group dissolves into doing their own things. It's pretty annoying when I'm trying to boosts friendships. Maybe I just need to lock them in a room together. Lol. 4) Yes, the Sims LOVE the computers. It's actually pretty annoying. I have one sim who needs it for his job as a tech guru, but I've locked all the other sims out from using it, since whenever guests would come over they would make a beeline for it, and my household sims would frequently get up from tasks I had them doing just to go sit and play blicbloc all day. Realistic, but annoying, lol. Anyway, that's just my thoughts on the whole autonomy thing.

My creative sims will paint autonomously when they're feeling inspired.

My sims will take a nap on the couch instead of actually sleeping in their designated bed and starve themselves to death just because I allowed them to like video games 😭

So is no one going to talk about the fact that in the cooking room there is no fridge-

I've watched my sims cook 4 meals, leave them on the counter, and then go get a bowl of peas... the sims 3 autonomy was way better, even if my mermaids always killed themselves by not swimming/showering and I had a vampire sim that legit danced himself to death.

For me, if they already have a skill in something they will do it automatically, but if they don't then they never would.

I have a gaming PC and a VR system in my main Sims' family living room. That is all the husband does because he has the gaming skill. He will starve and piss himself and faint from exhaustion before leaving the VR especially. When the wife Sim took them to the hospital to give birth to their first child; she's laboring crawling to the front desk to sign in while he found the first computer in the building and started gaming at it ignoring her. It is...something.

When I have guests over they ALWAYS light up my fireplace first. They don't even say hi. How rude.

Last time i didnt pay attention to sims in my family, they started drowning themselfs in a pool. They decided swiming while tired is the best idea.

Once they have acquired the painting skill they will paint autonomously.

My Sims only want to drink a ton of water, during a hot summer day. I think they used to do it way more often, but it seems it was patched at some point.

I think my Sims with a high painting skill autonomously painted. At least they used to. In fact I think visitors with high painting skill did too (I remember having to lock my Sim's art room.)

I will say, I have a creative Sim, and I will sometimes go to use the bathroom or just not pay attention, and I often find myself losing money from buying canvases, and earning money from selling paintings. Maybe they have to be at a specific level to do it automatically?

I’ve been playing with a family and one of the sims will autonomously talk to the plants (even in the thunder) and the other will autonomously stare at one of the paintings I put in their house.

With clubs, autonomy can be essentially changed... why was everyone in my club touching my satellite dish giving everyone bladder problems? I don’t know but even after I turned the thing I thought caused it off they still did it.

In the sims 4 i had a house on the beach and a place to paint, and random sims would ocasionally invade my house start painting and jump on the water to swim away

I had a noncreative sim that just kept painting by themselves and I could not stop that unless I got rid of the easal

My sims start painting automatically all the time o.o. I also noticed they do things more automatically the higher their skills are but when they have non they just 🕴🏻

I literally had to delete all of the stereos in my house, because my Sims probably would have peed and starved themselves to death had I not intervened!

7:03 me, watching this when even my nice sims will get into fights for no reason, and I have to actively stop them.

My sims like to constantly fight me on any choice I make for them. I click it, it shows up on the action list, and then immediately when it gets to that point, it cancels it, and the sims just stand there. If I switch from one to another and attempt the action with them, to see if maybe I have something in the way or what, the second sim does the action. They also seem to avoid using the trash cans and like to put laundry on the floor instead of in the washer or dryer like I ask them to. They don't start the machines either.

Whenever I do rags to riches the sim always goes on their phone!!!!!! I’m glad you also experience the same trouble and it’s not just me

I had one sim come to my house and paint once and then never again. I do like that you can actually walk and do tasks at the same time now at least.
