I believe I've used all those for shaving at one time or another. I settled on Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless and Voskhod... unfortunately both made in Russia. I don't know if they can still be imported, but considering the quantities purchased (hundreds of blades), I won't be needing a resupply for a while.
I think the lower the number, the sharper the blade. If that is the case then the Gillette Platinum is the sharpest. I am surprised that Feather is ranked number 1 in sharpness.
No heaver the sharper I was curious too I researched it and this is what I found: “this design lets you achieve a closer shave and smooth skin without having to use any pressure”
Based on this test, it appears the Gillette Platinum is the sharpest. I have used Feather and GP. Feather is slightly sharper than GP but lacks smoothness and durability.
Numbers are grams of force needed to cut a standard test string. Blade is pressed straight down, so not totally analogous to shaving stroke, which is slicing hairs at an unknown angle.
Derby and Wilkinson are the same?! I don't think so. Wilkinson have always given me a much closer and cleaner shave. Or the batch of Derby's that I got were bad.
Not surprising considering the only experience I have with derbies are terrible. Haven't tried the Wilkinson's, but the derbies felt like they were made of paper.
I disagree. I've used dorco prime platinums for years, I prefer those over the red and blue dorcos cause I feel like they are sharper. And even then I consider those to be a more "mild" blade compared to feathers, and bolzanos. But everybodys skin is different so what cuts good for one person may not be good for another.
