For the Indian and African markets, the planned 2025 Suzuki Grand Vitara will also get hybrid help. There are also rumors that a hybrid version of the Jimny will come out in other countries in 2025.
But because Australia doesn't have a national emissions goal, it hasn't brought any hybrid versions here.
The unveiling of an electric concept car called the eVX seemed to mark the start of a new generation of the Suzuki Vitara. However, the company has now announced an update for the current generation.
The Vitara has been around in its current form since 2015. It will get some new looks, better technology, and more safety features.
Importantly, the Vitara in Europe comes with two different electric drivetrains: a "mild-hybrid" version with a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and 48 volts, or a "strong hybrid" version with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and 140 volts.
According to a spokesperson for Suzuki Australia, the updated Vitara's final Australian specs have not been confirmed yet. However, the Vitara Hybrid is likely to come out in Australia in the first quarter of 2025.
It's not clear if the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated and 1.4-liter turbo engines that are already here will stay the same. Neither of them is hybrid-assisted.
The updated Euro-spec Vitara has a new bonnet, bumpers, and headlights that look like they are new. The interior and technology have also been updated.
