"Thank you for helping me; it was very kind. >:^(" Not gonna lie, the first time I picked that dialogue option, I really thought he was gonna tell me to fuck right off. Especially after the slightly ominous "Hmmm? HMMMM..." Such surprising character development. 😆
There are a handful of times in the game where Astarion seeing his own reflection could have been addressed, and as much as I love his storyline, it feels like something that just fell short.
That never occurred to me! It would have been neat to see him comment on it. I guess while Larian thought of nearly everything that players might do in the game, they overlooked some thematic details. Just another thing to be left up to headcanons and fanfiction.
It was lovely meeting you the first day of Fan Expo in Philly! I had been looking forward to it since February and many of us in the line made friends with each other! Your kindness & generosity I'll never forget.
Sorry for being terribly late, have some timestamps [btw, Shart's gameplay (and spellcasters in general) really depends on what spells you equip her with and use; she's not bad]: 9:44 character reintroduction 10:45 Astarion's opinion on the temple and the orthon, "Thank you for helping me. It was very kind." 13:45 You can cast Speak with the Dead on that bed. 19:49 "eh, deh, dheh, dheh, Shar's basically goth, blah mlah, mlah, mlah..." 22:18 Shadowheart's estimations on Asra 24:24 It depends on how you play her and what spells you equip her with, honestly. Some of her handy spells haven't been used much on this playthrough. 26:01 "Weee~ I'm a superhero." 35:21 talking to another rat 40:15 mini-recap on the spider carcass-licking 42:00 "... No." 44:11 and 45:52 Shar's voice again, giving up a memory to Shar 47:29 Astarion just casually supreme sneaking and through traps and enemies 51:57 Shart variation of the blood-letting and Astarion's sass 53:50 Neil reading about the mirrored effect challenge, this seems to be part of the theme of sacrificing all of yourself to gain Shar's favor, Commencing Battle 1:00:29 Tom explaining Compelled Duel, it's a tanking ability that provokes an enemy to focus on you 1:01:57 Astarion talking to himself 1:02:47 Bow'ee and Asra both failing to heal Astarion, Asra tries to compensate with Shield of Faith instead 1:04:54 Shart doesn't realize she can't poison her reflection 1:05:35 Transfuse Health (I like the sound effect.) 1:06:11 Really, it depends on how you play her. I noticed some of her spells that could've been handy have been underutilized. 1:12:40 finally 1:16:30 selfcest, and nah, I don't think it's doubt so much as *trying to figure out what they are, he never experienced an actual romantic relationship* 1:18:06 Raphael returns to talk about the orthon Yurgir and Astarion's scars 1:25:26 asking about the ritual and Cazador 1:28:46 blood-letting, Shadowheart edition again, but more aggressive tone this time 1:29:48 Bow'ee jumps and dies twice, reloadx2 1:45:00 commencing battle 1:55:40 o7 Jeff/Geoff
I'm so glad that Finnish public transportation offers a good internet connection, so I was able to watch the stream even during my holiday. It is so nice to be in my favourite place and enjoy my favourite stream. I feel so blessed! You did so well with shar trials, it was so nice to watch! Can't wait for the next stream! xxx
It was an absolute pleasure to meet you in Philly on the 4th of May. I gave you prints of my drawing, "See your Truth, Astarion"... And slipped a letter in there too, for which you thanked me. It was the black and white pencil drawing print. I hope to meet you at another convention in the future somehow. You were so kind to me and cracked some jokes to make me laugh because I was nervous. I really appreciated that. I also really enjoyed watching the way you interacted with everyone with such kindness, grace, snd humility. I got a masterclass on how to live with gratitude and be a good human while I waited in line. I wish you the best, Neil. 😁😁 Thanks for all you do for us.
Oh my god (yeah, I'm 2 weeks late to the show), but Astarion can SEE HIMSELF, and there's NOTHING AT ALL MENTIONED about it. As detailed as Larian was about seemingly everything, they missed this amazing Golden Opportunity [tm] for brilliant Astarian-brand dialogue with himself about himself. Man I hope they fix this in an update!
Blue, what a lovely thumpnail! Thank you for picking that sweet picture - it was very kind! 😀 Appreciate how much love you put in the videos! Cant wait to see the stream, because i had to pop out yesterday. Neil and Tom, you where, as every time, a delight
It is nice to see you back, hope you had a great time at the convention. Thank you for sharing with us another part of your fantastic adventures in Faerûn. Wish you and Tom a very lovely day.
This time I was in the chat for the first time. There were just nice and lovely people around. Thank you for this save space in which everyone can have fun and interact with people from all over the world! Greetings from Austria!
Neil was all of us with the bloody shar Olympics 😵💫😅 I was hoping to hear Astarion's line about the infernal circle because it's unexpectedly hilarious from what I remember 🤣 I had no idea about what the rats were in my playthrough 😱😅
To be fair, Astarion on Astarion combat should be a slap-fight full of 'you're too beautiful to hurt' - followed by a reluctant slaps. Watching it happen was painfully pretty!
fun fact! if you sleep with the male drow in the brothel and say your kink is missionary with the lights off, you can get a reference to business time by removing your clothes very clumsily, tripping sensuously over your socks
Lol ... My last play through with as Shadow as the lead character, I smoked mirror Shadowheart in one hit while stealthed using a max-level Guiding Bolt. Totally incinerated. It was a little scary, tbh.
36:46 Yeah, BG3 is not made for the TikTok format. People miss out because they speed-run and show little interest in the actual story being told. Which is a shame. It’s a game made for exploring, so get to it! ;) Kudos to Neil and Tom for making this a teachable moment; showcasing that it’s okay to take breaks and to linger in unexplored areas in game. Speeding along isn’t the winning strategy here. ✨ GG ✨ Neil & Tom 🤓
I now restat Shadowheart asap in every playthrough. Considering clerics can't recoup spell slots on a short rest and her chance of hitting with cantrips is often crap, she severely lacks reliable weapon attack stats so she can budget resources. Especially when she gets cool clericy weapons to use, I want them to actually hit lol. I've found making her life or war cleric for heavy armour prof and beefing her strength immediately makes her way more reliable, but I also respect people keeping her as trickery domain for story reasons. At some point, I want to try a party of sneaky builds with her casting pass without trace on us all.
As a goth I can confirm: Beckoning darkness is how we flirt 😂 Been so much fun catching up on these streams whilst playing through BG3 for the first time 🖤
I hate that in multiplayer in this game you always have this "player 1" effect, meaning one player-character tends to get sucked into all the important automatic cutscenes way more than others. It's also sad that they will never hear any dialogue between companions, since the game counts two player-characters as two different parties. As amazing as this game is, it does not function too well in multiplayer.
@@iriska_kiskan7675 haha^^ Good theory. But actually I would guess that the game sees him as the main player. Tom is usually the one who gets selected by the game when something triggers automatically.
@@iriska_kiskan7675 Of course it's Neils stream, but they're both building approval with the companions. I totally agree with you that Tom likely just needs more approval with Karlach :( I also don't know if there are key scenes for her that trigger romance. Don't have to read if you don't care, it's just loong thought dumping: I just noticed this pattern that Tom is usually the talking character in automatically triggered cutscenes. So I guess he's the hosting player/created the session (I'm experiencing the same in a playthrough with a friend, that's why I noticed). Bowee only comes in when she initiates the dialogue herself, or when it's relationship based content like the dance with Wyll (however the f she got his apporoval xD)/ astral date with Gale/ romance with Astarion. So my theory is that Astarions scene in this episode is, for some reason, not relationship based. Maybe since you would have this scene regardless of his approval, as long as you do Raphaels quest. It's not a personal scene that belongs to romance/friendship. So since it gets triggered by going to bed and approval doesn't matter, the game default selects Asra... (sadly). Don't know if it works this way, it's just a Theory based on how the game behaved for me.
Blind multiplayer looks messy as hell, you gotta know when what triggers to have a clean experience. The reason Tom was talking to Raphael instead of Neil is because he was the one who picked to sleep so he got pulled into the event instead of Bow'ee
Well, Tom, as my dad use to say to us kids: *EAT THE MIC!* He was a musician most of his life, but a little over a year ago, he had a very bad stroke which left his right side paralyzed. I couldn't see didly squat in that "faith jump" test. I heard that you could see the outline of the path or something, but even with the brightness of my Steam Deck turned up, there was only darkness. It was getting annoying towards the end when SH kept falling off. Stupid test. Complete waste of time.
I misspoke. I apologize. When I went back in to see if I could actually see something, towards the end of the test, I actually did. I had to angle the game camera just so. It actually *_almost_* made me want to "retake" the test. Almost. Next playthrough, though.
DUDES, at 1:14:19 I can see 'SABELLEKESTRELL' ask something I found profound in this moment. Basically, it is canon that Astarion cannot see himself in a mirror, but CAN he see his own mirror images!?
And looking back, at 1:07:25, Astarion had just cast mirror image, was selected on that character, the viewpoint would be his, and the images are well seen. I can't think that over, what did he say, 400 years? ... of being a vampire spawn/slave, he would not have found this loophole. :d
yeah but then there is far less content in terms of explaining etc. i get voicing him could be fun because he's a lot more silent as is all origin but yeah if he decides to do another playthrough i'd love a astarion or dark urge one
i am so unbelievably mad about the sneaking trial, he totally neiled it drinking a frickin invis potion and calmly strutting through while i'm out here sneaking fifty tries over a half hour trying not to get caught, trying not to activate the traps, not this guy tho cheat! i say (as a joke) i shall learn to cheat as well
Your comment about Shart being a shit cleric is funny to me because being an OP cleric is actually the only thing I enjoy about her lol And oh my god, “tedious” is such a correct word choice for the Gauntlet of Shar. I’ve played 3 runs, it’s a part of the game I would absolutely skip if it wasn’t a necessary one to progress with the story.
@@cloudstrife428 I don't think so, I think I have a healthy 30-ish approval at that point. You didn't let her give blood in the Sharran test thingies and she stayed with you?? Well I only switched out to her after I completed the first test, so when I got out of the it (finished the whole night song thing), she just told me she will leave and I tried to persuade her and she refused and permanently left my party.
@@veganryori I didn't know either, I forgot to bring her during the first test. So when I came back out I lost her permanently for my first playthrough.
I really hated this trials . . . .SPOILER. . . . Then I discovered that you need only one orb for the elevator, the door can be opened using the Knock spell, and it doesn't affect Shadowheart story at all. So screw you Shar! *You still need the spear, thou....
