You know what else is criminal? Taking 2 years to sentence these idiots. The only reason Just Stop Oil is a problem is because the justice system is broken.
Their sentence should be going to a colony where you live with no oil derived products or energy. No electronics, no synthetic fibers, no cosmetics, no shipped goods, cooking and heating by wood they gather themselves.

i agree completely, i hear these types in our country crying about the criminal oil industry but you don't see them walking places or wearing clothes made of bark or leaves.
They need to learn how to use oil paints in an intelligent manner - they must stay in prison until they can paint that Van Gogh painting themselves and they cannot leave prison until they paint it to perfection, exactly as the original. If they cannot - they need to make that prison their permanent address.
The mother of one of these nutters is now campaigning to get her 4 year sentence reduced, that makes me very angry I hope she fails just like she failed as a mother when she didn't teach her daughter to respect other people's property and rights.
This is NOT a "protest". It is violence. It is vandalism. They achieved NOTHING toward their goal but only got themselves taken to jail and court and to make people despise people like them for their antics. They gained no sympathy for their cause but only created animosity toward people like themselves.
They don’t have a cause, but they don’t know it. Mummy and daddy have to sit down with them and deal with them. Take away their allowance? Restrict their cell phone use?
That's so true. If someone says anything against oil-companies nowadays, it's easy to assume they belong to the same attention seeking extreme leftists.
Modern art is nonsense, simply unique mediums of investment, that prize the death of the artist. The art world is a dictatorship not a democracy because most people hate modern art. But damaging other people's pretentious rubbish still is a crime.
As long as they serve the whole five.....Brits, Ozzies, Canooks all talk a tough line but are truly soft on crime and oblivious to the damage criminals do. Rehabilitation is only one pillar of justice but these governments are fixated and things like deterrence, punishment, and restitution are routinely ignored.
🙄 Enough with calling things “woke”. The anti-woke rhetoric is what truly needs to stop. But having said that, this action is vandalism, not a protest. We need to stop our reliance on fossil fuels because it’s causing irreparable damage to the environment. But this won’t do anything.
Imagine they try to do that. Think about for a second. They would need a boat to go to a rig, battle the starting 3 ( navy, marines, homeland) and then vandalize it. That is quite the side mission.
They're a mix of idiots and attention whores. Many of them are even both. Imagine if they went for an oil rig and having to deal with security. They wouldn't get far.
@@videoceeor they could just get the money to spam adverts and donate to clean energy places or hold peaceful protests outside of buildings for oil companies or even host large gatherings where you clean up oil spills and show off the true damage it does. There are many many ways to protest oil and they chose the dumbest most ineffective one
At one time they would have been arrested and would up in court the very next day. They videoed what they did, so the evidence against them would be overwhelming so it would be an open and shut case and the whole trial over in about 10 minutes. They would be on their way to jail immediately afterwards. That would be a proper deterrent.
Eco-terrorism does not constitute a legitimate form of protest. Perpetrators of such acts should be held legally accountable for the damage inflicted upon cultural and artistic heritage.
It baffles me these 2 have been free to roam for 2 years without charges or so much as an ankle bracelet, and their only terms of bail are don't carry substances and don't go to museums. Why does it take 2 years to sentence them?

Someone's making profit of mental problems of young adults. Instead of giving them therapy money, put them to do this. And get jailtime.
Agree, by "stop oil," they probably meant stopping the petroleum industry, but petroleum is all around us. I mean naphta, cooking gas, paraffin, kerosene, wax, lubricant, bitumen, etc. There's a reason why petroleum producing countries are crazy rich despite the advent of electric and hydrogen car. We still doesn't have an electric or hydrogen fueled commercial and passenger aircraft, researchers estimate it would take another decade to make it a reality.
This is 100% protesting the intention was to protest against fossil fuel consumption and government policies related to oil and gas, rather than to vandalize art for its own sake.
If the public very roughly stopped them doing it and law allowed that as "citizens defence" it would stop pretty sharply, same with people dragging them off the road and throwing them in the hedge, the law needs to stop protecting the law breakers from just consequences for being annoying bellends

I've grown to appreciate them to be honest. They bring a little bit of colour to the world. As far as I know, nothing has been damaged beyond the superficial.
No, there isn't. Neither the Van Gogh painting, nor Van Gogh himself, add anything (using the money grifting term of "carbon footprint") to the fantasy idea of climate change.
So it only took 2 years to figure out that they're guilty with video evidence that the entire world saw immediately after they did it. What does justice even mean at this point?
“What is worth more, art or life? Is it worth more than food? Worth more than justice? “Are you more concerned about the protection of a painting, or the protection of our planet and people? The cost of living crisis is part of the cost of oil crisis.” "Phoebe Plummer"
