The index finger stall feels like it is at the wrong angle to me and I found it more comfortable to not use that loo at all for the index. I only use the pinky loop.
It's awful - what were they thinking?! I ordered it based on the hype of being the latest innovation, and the pictures looked ok. When it arrived, my first reaction was that it looked like it came from the street hockey aisle at Walmart. It's that bad. Blocker and pads are great aside from the Slowskin, and re-ordered a 600 with an inch added to the pocket.
Pads have some questionable design choices when you really look closely as well. CCM has all the tools to make REALLY good gear and something just isn't clicking.
@@HockeyReviews I'm liking the 6's much more than the 5's. The knee block is more stable at least and the seal is better except for the thigh rise. Both versions let pucks slide under, but most of the time the puck is stopped by the knee blocks, which gets a quick whistle. Mine don't have the calf wing lacing you were discussing. Maybe I got lucky when ordering?!
I actually really like the backhand strap. I wish i could get it on the regular 580. I fing that if i try to open up the glove face as much as possible that the plastic in yhe parm will sometimes make a popping sound when i close the glove. Im also not a fan of the straight stiff t.
It is based on the old design, it is considerably better than what this is. But, I have a hard time suggesting a CCM 580 when you can just get the True ones now?
Ah, I think they changed the backhand a bit, but the internals should be all the same. At least that is how the pro stock ones I saw were... obviously not a 1-1 comparison though.
I'm sure the lack of plastic in the cuff is to deal with the fact that their plastic in the cuff breaks so, so often.. however, given your comments and insight, it doesn't seem like their solution is the way to go. Interesting to see how (if) they'll improve it on the 2024 Axis.
They could just add more foam to the FRONT of the cuff to help deaden the puck forces on the cuff and help with plastic cuff breakage... whatever the reasoning this solution was the right way to go about it.
I tried this glove as well, felt "cheap" and thrown together. Closes like like a lot lizards legs, palm felt like a red head step child after only a few shots. Legs also were disappointing and I wouldn't recommend eflex6s to anyone.
moment i saw the shape of the glove it honestly made me wonder who is incharge of this stuff at CCM cuz i dont know a single goalie who says this design works for them or have even liked how it looked so if it doesnt look good & doesnt work good wtf is the point of making it, makes no sense 😂
Funny. Usually we don’t see eye to eye at all. The 600 break is my all time favorite but my first big glove was the ef3 pro and they switched the 600 on that one from the ef2 600. Ever since they switched the gloves closed like shit. Recently picked up a brand new ef2 600 off sideline swap and it’s night and day difference. Lighter and closes much better. The ef2 glove is what true produces now for 600. CCM needs to go back to the ef2 glove that one was cutting edge imo
Matt, if one of these companies was smart they’d hire to consult on design, your ability to evaluate product is excellent, I’ve learned a lot watching your gear videos
Unfortunately a lot of the times companies don't like the critical feedback, so it would take a lot for them to actually be open to changes and feedback. But I would love to be a tester for companies! I did it once with a pair of player gloves, and my feedback was directly incorporated into the final product so it was fun to see!
I never play without those groin shorts started using them 10+ years ago when I pulled my groin. Never had and issues with my groin since. You need to get those shorts if you’re a goalie I’m telling you huge difference. I’m not even paid to say that. Save your groin people you’ll need it for the rest of your life 😂
This glove was baked multiple times and it is still bad, you shouldn't have to bake a glove for it to work regardless. The hot water method also didn't improve this glove.
She is my girlfriend, she doesn't actually "produce" anything here she just helps me out a lot! It's just more fun to say than "my girlfriend or significant other"
I almost bought a eflex 6 used, 580. To replace/help an old CCM pro retro flex from dying. Assume True L87 or 12? Might be the replacement? That's much different than the 581, cause of construction, etc? Whew, this is getting confusing.
If you want a 580, look for True ones, or the Bauer one if it is really cheap. But the Trues are just better. I did a review of the True 12.2 580 game ready and did the puck machine test for it. It is considerably better than what the 581 is.
