Love this song, they've ended almost all of their shows with it and Tyler usually gives a short speech before playing it and at the end of the video and ever show Tyler says 'we're twenty one pilots and so are you', they include their fans in everything they do. In a video Tyler once said the song was about a time he was struggling mentally and went out into the woods by himself searching for 'truth' and just shouted 'prove something to me, that I'm not nuts'. He said he likes that the song doesn't have an ending, you never find out if he found what he was searhcing for or if he got a response from whoever he was speaking to. Fans generally interpret it as him talking to God and wanting him to reveal himself. He wrote the song as a teenager before he started the band so it's cool they still play it at shows and it is a fan favourite.

A very important line at the end of this video after the adulation - "We're Twenty One Pilots and so are you!" Tyler and Josh refer to the fans as the essential third band member, and they treat us as such, too. At the end of one of their recent shows Tyler's mic went out before he was able to say it, so he walked out toward the crowd, quickly quieted them down, then shouted to everyone "We're Twenty One Pilots and so are you!" Obviously the crowd went nuts. There's video of it. If you watch some interviews, you'll see they refer to their band as "your" band. They love us and we love them!! 💛💯💛

You missed the ending! They finish out every concert with “We are Twenty One Pilots, and so are you!” It’s a cool moment 😁

He’s talking to God. So I absolutely love them! They are from my home state and when they dropped their album Vessel, I was going to The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio. And things blew up for them. I got to see the Blurryface hometown show and they are just phenomenal. ✌️😊

Def recommend doing more of their live stuff! They're so good live. Holding on to you at Fox Theater and fall away live would be good ones to do!

Listen to the studio record and you get chills when Tyler screams (if you haven't already). He is talking to God, but the listeners can interpret the lyrics the way they want. Their live shows are amazing. They really know how to create a connection with the crowd and include the fans.

I've seen them 3 times and their closing song always gets me. The level of interaction they do with the crowd is awesome too. My first TøP concert I was in the nosebleeds. My second one I got pit tickets and Tyler randomly appeared up in the nosebleeds during the song Fairly Local. My last one Take over tour in Denver they entered either side of the arena I was on the side josh came out on.

Also Josh takes his whole kit out and drums on a platform on the crowd. People wait days outside of venues to get these spots. You also missed at the very end of the video Tyler always ends concerts with. We are Twenty one pilots and so are you. Rewatch it all of the way through until the end.

I’m going to see tøp in concert in London in June next year (it will be the fourth time I’ve seen them live!). There’s nothing like a tøp show and I’ve been to plenty of gigs in my time. You captured it with one word ‘energy’. It is incredible. They always end shows with this song. You did miss the ‘we are twenty one pilots and so are you’ at the very end of the video, I’m sure lots of people will point that out, sorry. Your interpretation of the lyrics are exactly why Tyler writes the way he does, he writes the songs for you to interpret what it means to you.

Don't know how far you are from London but they're playing 4 shows next June. Sometimes Tyler stops singing and lets the crowd fill in, it's incredibly powerful.

Saw them live in Stockholm 2020,and yesss they finished with this even then. Amazing. And yes you missed the end,lol. Every reactor does. But love your reaction as always, hugs.

What everyone else said. This gets me every time I watch it & brings back the memories of the 2 tøp concerts I’ve been to. You have the opportunity to see them coming soon- you must go, you will not be sorry.. This is one of the first song I ever heard of them, and back then I genuinely thought he was talking with a ghost girl roaming the woods alone. What can I say, I'm emo and goth,lol.

I had a ticket for their sept 30 show at the Greek but had to sell ticket cause of personal problems. I made the right decision BUT am sooooo bummed i missed out. Oh so so so bummed.

He is talking to God as he was going through a difficult time and wrote this song when he was 17

The beauty of the way he is talking to God, with him, waiting, but know god has been waiting, and the awkward way that he just wants to be close. It’s amazing to me.

Your mind works more like mine, he's talking to god,but I also know Tyler wants us to interpretate his lyrics individually and I thought exactly like you did with this. And I am confident in my interpretation.

He is talking to God like the majority of their songs. But he leaves it vague enough for others to have their own interpretation. Many of the songs are speaking about his struggles in his faith, doubts, etc.

I believe he is talking to God. Tyler does speak about his Christianity in some of the songs. I'm not religious at all, but I still like the song. It can just mean something different to me.
