My sister Cecilia Jawo from Fullabantang, The Gambia sent this to me years ago. However, I did not watch the video until my Salman Ahmad who is from Pakistan but was my best friend from high school sent this to me. The second song in the concert is actually dedicated to my sister Cecilia from the Gambia. She was working with Juldeh to help translate for him. The Fulani music with the combination of the Naneyru/Ritti, mbagu/drum/tama and flute is fantastic. Juldeh and Justin did a great job! Am super proud of their performance.
I happened to see Justin Adams with a band of West African musicians at the Roskilde Festival about 15 years ago. Absolute magic! (I was just sad that the band couldn't see the huge crowd of people who sat listening to them in the sunshine outside the half-empty stage tent.) And now it looks like he has found the perfect partner in Juldeh Camara.
I am absolutely trilled! I a Fulani from Fula bantang and loves my culture. I wish Juldeh pairs or add in Maayo Diao and Mondeh Baldeh to his music career to help promote those perfect traditional singers. See What Maayo Diao can do on youtube.
