I used to work for a sporting goods shop in the 90’s. I was there for 6 years and ran into a bunch of celebrities. The best way to treat them is like regular customers and they‘ll appreciate it. I’ve sold Jerry Seinfeld, and a woman he was with, tennis racquets because they didn’t bring theirs and were at a hotel close to a tennis club. I was a manager when I was called up to the register because a customer didn’t have ID but was using a credit card. I got there and looked at him, then looked at the credit card which read “Warren Griffin III”. I told the cashier it was okay. Afterwards, Warren G, shook my hand and said thanks and gave me tickets to his show which I gave to a few coworkers. We closed at 9PM and one night, some guys showed up at 9:05 asking if they can come in and shop. I didn’t recognized them at first but a coworker said “that’s a Tribe Called Quest”. So we let them in and they were with the Fu-Schnickens, or 2 of the members. They wanted to buy some shoes but after they were done, they sat in shoe department and just kicked it with us. They were doing a show down the street the following night and gave us all tickets. There was like 6 of us and they invited us to their after party at a hotel. I didn’t go, but my coworkers did and had a blast. Great guys. I’ve also seen Kid, of Kid and Play. I never asked any of them for an autograph.
