One of my math professors in college looks just like JC, down to the hair, the beard, AND the suspenders. He was a great teacher; I was a lousy student- got my degree tho. Still there... Len Richardson. Beard's bigger now tho. www.math.lsu.edu/~rich/home.html
@@Alien_nation you're right he has. But Paul is still remembered. Paul was there in the beginning and a part of creating such a beautiful sound. Gone but not forgotten.
Nicolas Grisanti you should start listening to some truly great bassists like geddy lee who destroys this guy. Justin has a cool sound. He is not a great actual bassist at all. Hes very average as far as his playing itself.
Tim Renken That really depends man. What is a good bassist? A guy with a lot of technical skill, or a guy being able to write simple, great and original parts. Geddy is great, but I also think Justin is amazing in a way that appeals more to me musically. Pretty subjective stuff anyways.
Is not a competition man, when you understand that, you will really enjoy music. BTW Geddy is amazing too, and "i start listening" Rush a long time ago, but thanks anyway ;)
I agree with both statements here, but like Rush before and during them, there is no TooL without any current member. I can honestly say IMHO, all are the best at what they do as well as being a snowball's-chance- in- hell level of synergistic, unique talents.
every member of Tool agrees that Justin Chancellor works the hardest when writing and developing songs ... he scrutinizes each note and then spends vastly more time in the studio laying down tracks until he is satisfied ... mega props to this guy i love it ... !!!
Wrong.... David Bottrill said they come to the studio prepared with every note in their pocket ....and therefore spend a small amount of time in the studio. I know he said this, because he said it standing 2 feet in front of of me....with about 40 other witnesses. You dont know shyte.
@@Toolmybass I know Danny Adam and Justin come in with an idea on what they're going to play beforehand, but I think what op meant was that Justin Chancellor is the biggest perfectionist in the band, and will spend the most time making sure his parts sound as good as possible compared to the rest of the band.
Saw tool a few weeks ago in Melbourne. Justin has such a cool energy to him and kept smiling to everyone in the crowd, you can tell he’s very appreciative of fans
@@miguelporras8366 Most bassists in most bands aren't really like Justin though, they're just kinda there. Which is a shame of course because he's living proof of how much potential the instrument has in rock/metal.
Such a good bassist. i don’t know how he comes with some of the baselines he does. so original and so GROOVY, could listen to this guy mess around for hours on a bass.
Justin: *where's a shirt that says USELESS Also him: *elevates the band's distinct sound and heaviness for more than twenty years, and makes Danny look more awesome
all drive the songs imho lol. and a lot of the awesomeness comes from the synergy between justins bass lines and adams riffs. truth is you couldn't take one of them away without destroying the sound of tool. they are all irreplaceable.
Holy HELL he looks so old in this video!!! I've seen Tool on the front row and I never would recognize him if he looked like that on stage. Bless them, they're all getting on up there now and may be dead by the time the album comes out! They actually let MJK use APC to beat them to a new album. Thanks sad :(
BONJOUR Justin ... On dit le destin que je vous ai connu tres tard. Aujourd'hui , chaque jour je vous ecoute et sourtout j'entends TOİ ! MERCİ POUR TOUT .
@@danutd94 Doesn't mean he can't be the 5th Beatle...pretty sure John and Paul hated eachother....what would it hurt to have a fifth member who hates everyone in the band?
Wrong, the 5th Beatle was Clarence Walker, the original songwriter, lead singer, and saxophone player. They kicked him out of the band and stole all his good ideas.
Les Claypool and Justin Chancellor are two of my biggest influences for picking up the bass guitar. Of course as a massive Metallica fan, it was Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted that got me interested in bass at first.
I love how Danny once said that they were so down after Paul left and not sure they could sound great again but Justin came along and was an upgrade( followed by a Danny chuckle!).
Tool is one of the most complete bands I know and there is no way one can say that one of the members is more important or prominent than the other. That said, I wind myself enjoying Justin´s bass the most.
@@zachgordon99 Paul wrote 5 songs on Aenema including this one before he left the band. Do I need to do the google search for you or can you handle that yourself?
If we consider that you know anything from France then…your comment reflect how little minded you are, it’s a shame since it’s a comment about one of greatest bass players, beatifull human being, while humble and universally minded.Pfffff…shame…
legniak1 this was filmed at the bass camp made by Warwick. I think that Justin was an instructor and that's why he is using a streamer i'm not sure if the bass that he is using is a rockbass but indeed it is one of the cheapest series and bass made by them. But in an interview in this very bass camp Justin Said that he is going to work with Warwick to make him a new bass. So it will be a Masterbuilt series bass. (Really fucking expensive) and almost the same quality as a Wal bass
lacoalfredo thanks man. I can't imagine anything sounding better than his Wal bass, especially that amazing mid range growl but a masterbuilt Warwick would be amazing no doubt
Justin attended the Warwick Bass Camp for some lessons and brought a '63 Fender Precision. Here he tells that this Precision is one of his nicest sounding basses, but within Tool it would just disappear. I guess thats why he used a Warwick Bass, mainly because he didin't have his Wal at hand. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o2se-EgVfls.html
He speaks french!!!!good!!!very sympatique!!! And wow a big musicien! Comme tous les membres de ce groupe! En plus il est cute! Sérieux un merveilleux musicien ,un bel être dans sa passion !
I sure enjoy seeing not just Justin even he sounds United Kingdom, also Adam who looks spooky, Danny the giant figure looking plays the drums and Maynard with a mighty voice whenever he wears for the show.
Chancellor is one of the best bassist's of all time. If he ever played like he does and stepped up to a front mic and sang like Geddy he'd be the world greatest hands down.
Dallas R. Melo well that's simply not true. My two Warwicks cost around £7500 each. The made in Germany pro line series you might be thinking of. And Wal basses are booooorrrring
Two different animals. I'm a Warwick guy but much respect to wal . (Btw.... rockbass=$800-1200, German pro series $1500-$2000, master built $3200-$9000 and up.)
@@DaveTaste Dude, everyone just says underrated about everyone, because they’re kind of idiots. Drives me crazy. Nobody underrated Justin Chancellor ever. These people would and probably do say DC is underrated on every RU-vid video of him😂
The Electrocist I heard them play a new song at a concert in 2016, also the studio version of many of there songs don't live up to the live performances. They add stuff they left out of the studio versions for instance sober was life changing live give I've listened to the song on repeat for hours upon hours... mind was officially blown hearing them do sober live...amazing.
Playing this on guitar polyphonically in Drop D, I have an observation. Justin starts the intro using his middle finger to do the rub offs, and then when he switches to the 3/4 part at 2:18 in the video he uses his index finger as the operative one to do the rub offs. I think that he is doing this to even out the finger fatigue. Even on guitar, the rub offs are tiring after a few times through!
