Actors Justin Chien and Sam Song Li join New York Living to talk about their new Netflix series “The Brother’s Son” and the importance of Asian representation on the big screen.
@@stanleycoleman Thank you for sharing. I'm not Asian, but my wife and I attended a watch party at our friend's house. He mentioned that Michelle speaks Mandarin with a Cantonese-like accent. Then when her mom appeared, he said, "Oh that's why... her character is Cantonese!" So there's a possibility that her character is not native Taiwan. That would be interesting if her character is from Hong Kong.
Kind of a shame that they got the title of the series terribly wrong. I am glad that Justin And Sam are being interviewed on so many shows because they deserve to be recognized for the fantastic job they did as the Brothers Sun.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show. As a product from a Tiger Mom, I truly relate on how Michele Yeoh interacts with her sons.... there's always a special child that mom spoils and the other child gets all the crap and responsibility. The mahjong group was the best part as it reminded me so much of my grandmother and her friends. The worst thing is to ever play the game with a group of elderly Chinese women as they are truly CUTTHROAT and genuinely serious about the game.
