I’m an Eagles fan so I’m all in on Hurts obviously, but Herbert as a talent is definitely top 5 at the position. I think coaching & injuries are the reason the Chargers aren’t what they are expected to be. Herbert would look a lot different in the Eagles or Dolphins offense with Siriani or Daniels as his HC.

Justin Herbert for the last two seasons has played just as well as anybody has played in their first two seasons. He was one record away from breaking every rookie quarterback record. Tua finally got a new head coach and some quality weapons and is having a great season right now. Same with Jalen hurts. To be outraged that Herbert is ahead of them doesn’t make sense. If Keenan Allen and Mike Williams were healthy this whole year, the Chargers would have a much better record and he would be probably in the MVP conversation. You have to take into account that he hasn’t had his top two receivers for most of the season

When you throw the ball as much as Herbert does your defense is gonna be on the field way more than they should be Brees, Manning, Rivers, Russ, and so many others have dealt with the same thing. And btw he’s had one of the best safeties and one of the best pass rushers on his team since he’s been there, and had very good corners they can only do but so much the way the game is officiated now

Last season the Chargers defense gave up 139 rushing yards per game. The Chiefs gave up 118, the Packers 109. His info is still inaccurate.

There are qbs who have had worse defenses than Herbert and still won more games and made the playoffs. Is he is as good as people rank him and hype him up to be he should a playoff appearance/mvp vote/ or at least been above .500 in his career at some point or lead a statistical category and he’s done none of these things yet.

Tua now has a coaching staff that is actually helping him succeed. You can't say the same when it comes to the Chargers. They're just relying om Herbert to bail them out week after week, which is never a recipe for success.

What questions anybody had about Hurts at the beginning of the season has all been answered, at a FAST RATE. Jalen had answered all questions about can he stand in the pocket and pass or pass on the run etc. And Hurts play leads to WINNING FOOTBALL. We’ll see how he plays in the playoffs but after playing poorly last year playoffs he said & I quote.. “I’ll learn from this & I’ll get better. I’ll be back!” No reason for me to not believe it the way he’s playing this season.

My problem with this debate is it kinda arbitrarily removes Joe Burrow from contention. Joe Burrow has basically every one of the other 3’s best traits all at once. His the second best pure thrower of the bunch, he’s the best at reading a defense, and is as good of a leader, and teammate as Hurts which is his best trait. Honestly Joe Burrows accomplishment are so staggering it’s hard to contend. I’d only take 1 guy in the whole league over Joe, and I don’t think I need to say who that is . And ever as a rookie I’m not sure.

Win percentage is more attributed to coaches, as winning in team sports requires a collective effort. Individual stats, are the players contribution to that win percentage. Dan Marino is evidence of this, he considered one of the greatest without ever winning an SB. Wins only matter, if you win it all...Everyone else is the loser.

Dolphins lost their left tackle, if they lose Sunday, can you help me use that as an excuse?? Bills might've lost Miller for the yr , if they lose can they use him as an excuse for their lost? Bottomline, every team has injuries. Coaches and gms are responsible for prepping their teams for such incidents by having a competent depth chart.
