The Liberal's plan is founded on three priorities: building more homes, making it easier to rent or own a home, and helping Canadians who can't afford a place to live. The government is pledging several measures to achieve its goal, including unlocking underused public land to build more housing and eliminating GST from new rental apartment construction projects. The federal government is calling on provinces, territories and municipalities to step up as full partners in this plan.

No. He didn't cause the housing crisis. This issue has been here and groing for a long time. Back in the 70s the federal government did fund housing projects. However in the 90s under brain Mulroney a conservative government. Ended that funding. Yes both cons and libs, could of brought that back. But they didn't. At least they now are adding more money, back into housing again. It should of been done long ago. Also, housing is usually a Municipal and provincal level issue. But even they all failed at it. All levels need to work together, regualdess as to whom is in power.

People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

Trudeau states they will build 3.9 million homes by 2031. That’s about 7.5 years from now. 3.9 million / 7.5 = 533,333 homes per year. It means 44,444 homes every month. It means 1,461 new homes every day. It means 182 new homes every hour. How likely is this? CMHC states housing starts in 2023 were around 223,000 and 240,000 in 2022. Only in 2021 did starts go over 300,000 (according to Trading Economics). What are the odds the government can double production? Also, by trying to do so, even if they do, this will massively increase demand for building materials and workers. This will drive up the cost of materials, labour, and land. These new houses will be some of the most expensive ever built. No one will be able to afford these houses.

Housing assessment works on two very basic factors - Population growth and Housing development rate, the population increase doesn't matter if it is immigration or native born citizens. The exact same stats apply to the medical system and the rest of the infrastructure. The majority of people coming here are not students.

I guarantee they don’t want us actually owning these houses or properties, they just see the money in renting and I ensure they’re going to just rent these houses out to people for a better price so they can get a piece of the pie. Ah the good old days. In the late 60's my dad bought a house on Cummer Avenue in Toronto Canada. It was a huge sized lot, and the house was a wooden bungalow, and off to the side was a sturdy decent garage, plus there was a shack way way off down at the back of the huge lot. And of course it had its own water well, so water was free, other than electrical costs for pumping the water. Now, of course, there are two multi-million dollar houses located on that lot. Wow, that is quite a change considering that the house and lot only cost my dad $10,000 in the late 60's. Yep, things are a bit different these days.

They are using billions of dollars how many $300,000 mortgages would that cover even if people defaulted, but most wouldn’t they would collect income on mortgages the government would be making money instead of spending it all. They would collect income on mortgage payments made the only way your precious tax dollars go to waste is if people defaulted on the mortgages even than the government would be able to repossess the houses and sell them if that where the case. There are no holes in this plan.

as a ticketed Carpenter I know this problem is not going to get fixed, Wages are to low, Gas is to expensive, I cant justify driving a full size truck for work when the price of Gas is so high, I know many people who have quit the industry because they can no longer support their family by building houses, Im making 30k more a year without driving everywhere working in the oil and gas industry, I drive a company vehicle now, and I don't have to pay for my own gas, 4 years of Carpentry school and I make less than a raw recruit in the oil and gas industry

Plan, ambitious, unbelievable, young, affordable, excited, talking, solutions, comprehensive Basically the same lame words I keep hearing anything about housing The reason these prices are up so much isn’t so much supply as it is huge immigration (1M people in one year?), investors(basically every MP owns a rental property), extended low interest Insult to injury is always that women to his right nodding her head and smiling likes crazy Just doesn’t seem like they talk to Canadians who see the big picture and not see captured by big words Hope Canada gets back on the right track
