Chi Na SZA, Jhene, Kalis Uchis, Jorja Smith, H.E.R, Syd/ the internet, Daniel Caesar, Willow smith, 11:11, brent Faiyaz, dvsn, Lion babe & Nao etc. There are so many R&B artists that are a breath of fresh air bc they're sincere, their music seems genuine, the lyrics they use to describe situations are colourful, the melodies and tone each artist inflect on different tracks are unique. They don't layer too much on a track. If Justine goes along the pop route then she has the IT factor but for R&B I don't think so. I feel like I'm listening to Justine but not really hearing her.

too many of the the artists you talk about all whisper sing over muted electronic tracks and talk about love and infidelity. I like several of the artists you named and think some are quite talented but it is the truth. the alt-r&b wave is not anything really enticing. none of them are getting any real push or promotion (excluding SZA), which could an eventual lack of resources to even continue recording. R&b is not thriving right now, and I'd like to know why.
