I've got to admire Lee for doing this on the youtubes in front of thousands of people. I'm not sure I could do it. Particularly knowing how awful these comments can get. Kudos to you, mate. Justin - you've helped me become a better player for at least the last 7 years. Your inspiration has also kept me playing when I started to get frustrated or bored. Thank you so much for everything you do.
No shame in admitting to one's shortcomings but it takes real humility to do it so publicly, as the man said, in forum where the haters love to hate. Good on yer Lee and Justin in your collaboration.
the andertons comment section has more ignorant keyboard warriors bashing rob's playing and praising lee's playing from what i observed. i think admitting one's shortcommings is quite a smart move to fend off haters though.
It really takes balls to tell all your flaws and misconceptions as a guitar player to a professional guitarist/kung fu master while the cameras are rolling just to help other guitar players alike who are stuck in a rut in someway or another. A proper salute to the Cap.
Andertons Music Co Starring Captain as Captain America, Chappers as the Hulk, Danish Pete as Dr Strange, Ariel as the Iron Man and Joss as Starlord. Where they have to stop John Mayer from gathering all 6 top shelf guitars and turning the universe into his Wonderland
Respect for the captain...taking such a lesson and showing it on the internet is very inspiring. we should all able to show our weeknesses, embrace them and then conquer them!
I absolutely love that the Captain is doing this. It is very vulnerable. To be up front that he has been playing guitar for 30 or so years and he is where he is at, is awesome. I am in the same boat. Thanks Lee!
As opposed to camera facing tutorials, this interview/interactive lesson is fantastic. I don't know that I've ever seen that on any other channels, but it is absolutely fantastic. You have good questions coming from Lee and killer insight from Justin. Keep it up!
that is honestly one of the best guitar teacher advice i´ve ever heard. Use a lick, play it till you are bored and than change it...that opened my eyes after 10 years of playing guitars .... THANK YOU. And by the way... if you want to learn to play "cant stop" the right way... check Justins tutorial.
Fair play to you mr. Captain for putting yourself in the hot seat as the student in front of all of your viewers, takes a lot of courage laying your playing out! It’s great that your trying to improve and so should we all try to improve regardless of level !
Hi Justin....i just want to thank you with all my heart. Your channel introduced me to guitar and it has been a madness since then. You are my first Guitar hero and thanks to captain for starting this series. Love from India.
Ok love this format. It is cool to see the exchange between teacher & student. Justin if you don’t do a continuing series with Anderton’s please put more of this format on your channel!!!
I think the concept Justin was describing near the end is developing muscle memory; the more repetitions you do, the more imbedded the motion becomes. Nice lesson, & I hope you & Justin follow through, Lee. I'll be looking for more of these soon.
In this series, Justin is not only teaching us how to play guitar, he is showing us how to TEACH. Brillant ! thx Andertons for sharing this knowlege for free.
This is like Star Wars and Star Trek had a baby. Two of my my favorite channels. Guitar is not dead as long as there are people like Captain Lee and Justin. Hallelujah!
Great video guys. Made me smile a few times. Lee, I also had been in a rut for 20 years. Justin has been instrumental in my actual developement as a player. Keep with it and continue with these videos as they are helpful for those of us struggling with the same issues.... and thanks Justin for a great site that has teaching as the first priority.
Kudos to you Lee. I really enjoy and appreciate watching your RU-vid videos. I think it’s brilliant to involve someone like Justin, to help your viewers improve their guitar skills.
Great stuff guys. Two of my favorite channels collide but in a normal rather than overwhelming way. Instead, you guys helped me feel like I am not in this alone. Even guys who have played for decades have things that are difficult to them. Much more believable seeing it than hearing about it. Thanks for re-stoking my fire!
Justin has to be the best RU-vid guitar teacher for beginners to intermediate players. I owe so much to his free content. Thank you Justin for changing many peoples lives :)
Its about time!! Anyone who as gone through the pain of learing guitar on youtube knows Justin. Wonderful combo and he has never charged a penny for his lessons ... Great man and great player.
I can't even describe how happy I am to see Justin here and knowing that more material will be covered with him onboard. Such a great time to be alive for guitarists ainnit?
Thank you so very much for your sharing, Lee, I could see myself in your struggle to pick it up, it takes courage to show what needs improving. Please keep it going.
I just recently discovered Justin's channel and started his Basic course. After 50 years of trying to play guitar, I'm actually learning how to do it. Those 5 minute exercises are the key for me; that and not just playing what I all ready know. Great stuff and I'll be watching this channel for more of this rut busting.
O Captain! My Captain! Participator of thy tasty jam and proponent of thy flatted five ...please reach out to Rick Graham for a meeting of tonal pleasure and delightful conversation. Cordially, everyone
Fantastic video. Great to see that I'm no the only one who has trouble going off topic in my practising! Enthusiasm and and an inquiring mind is great but can lead to less focus than required on what I should be focussing on. Way to go Captain and Justin : )
Hey Lee, thanks for this. I hope this becomes a long-running series. I watch Justin's vids to learn songs all the time, but the collaborative style is a great help.
Justin is a great player, but this cannot be emphasized enough- he's a great teacher and being a teacher is a very different skill from just being a guitar player. And Justin really is great at it. He's able to put his mind in the position of someone who doesn't already know what he knows.
Andersons Music Channel has a lot of great series, but this might be my favorite. What a great idea, and Justin has always seemed such a great guy, too.
What a brilliant video. Been watching Chappers and Cap for years and you guys rarely disappoint. This new series is absolutely genius. I suspect many players out there who are at Lee's level will benefit massively from this! Happy days! When does Pt II come out?
Fantastic collaboration, I am going to learn so much from this. Also hilarious watching Lee's free-associating flights of fancy being tamed by Justin's calm authority and focus. This is going to be an unmissable series.
My favorite guitar teacher and favorite gear reviewer in one vid... like PB & jelly (or maybe fish & chips for you guys)! Keep 'em coming guys, great video!
It's interesting to see how the struggle is common to ALL players of music, at any stage of their journey! It's also fertile ground to approach a common problem, as it is useful, more so than a lot of lesson formats. Justin is a truly wonderful teacher, worthy of a knighthood by the Queen! :)
Now this was awesome video! And Lee's playing in that little exercise seemed substantially better... I'm looking forward to the continuation of this collaboration! One of my favourite of your guys' videos, love it!
Fantastic! Justin is teaching me how to play guitar, and Lee helped inspire my now-instatiable lust for gear. I'm going to love watching this series, but I fear it's going to get expensive.
There are some great opportunities here, as a channel goes, to really expand this RU-vid scene/ experience for us the viewers, as well as for Anderton’s as a business. More lessons. There are some great players and teachers I’m sure would be willing to do this.
Really interesting! I'll definitely follow this series. I must admit I'd have no idea what I'd play if put on the spot and asked to come up with my favourite lick, but I was surprised that Lee didn't play a phrase that he falls back on very frequently in the Andertons videos (one which I've always liked and have promised myself I should figure out!).
Very cool lesson guys! I've been watching and learning from justin guitars videos for a few years now and andertons videos. Very informative and i consider myself at a similar skill level to the captain right around intermediate level and i have a very good ear for guitar playing and music in general. Everyone has a little bit of soul in them and you just need to find it and take the lessons and what you have learned mix it together and just let it flow out of you on the guitar. Playing to Jam tracks in different keys of the minor and major pentatonic scales have helped me become a better guitar player and i suggest anyone to try it. youtube is full of them. Your mood is very important aswell. "Music is what feelings sound like". Pick your guitar up and play no matter what mood you are in and that will help make you a more versatile player too I think. Great video guys keep em' comin!
