I love how he prefaced the pedal board with his amp settings. That’s the most important part of the sound.

@JustinOstrander is on fire with his channel and of course his work. The guy dishes out a stream of thought that gives us all inspiration no matter what level guitar player you are. And there's one of those Sitka Ts again!

Justin is by far one of my favorite guitarist. His explanation of things he’s playing and thinking about is clear and makes sense.

Justin is very cool, I feel that he's a real no-nosense guy and guitarist and he is a get er' done type of player. I think that some of the other RU-vidrs that are featuring guitar need to pay attention to this guys manners and abilities. Thanks for having him.

Great interview! I have become a big fan of Justin’s this year. I commend him for the comments about saving his hearing and the headphones he uses. I had a 33 year career flying Navy jets and was religious about protecting my hearing. When I retired my last hearing test showed I still fell within the parameters of my baseline entry hearing test. As an amateur guitarist, I still take care of my hearing and encourage others to do the same. Keep up the good work…

I've got tons of pedals but my favorite pedal purchase that I've made in years has been the hx stomp . It does intricate mixes, cab sims, fx loops, has preamp only option, intelligent switching, headphone amp, stereo ir loader, wild card spot filler, etc. It answers to almost any situation.

Nice interview and I enjoy occasionally stopping by Justin's channel. I've been in Nashville for around 7 months now and have done a few studio sessions playing Flamenco and Steel string guitar - great scene here and feels like a musical evolution is emerging here. Thank you Gentlemen!

I have to agree with simplicity as a key to all of this. The single most creative time in my life was when I had maybe two guitars, an AC styled amp, and a handful of pedals, which were basically Distortion, Reverb, Delay, and Tremolo and an a/b line selector to go from normal to top boost.

Words to live by in this chat. Around 89-90, I had a wah, boss chorus and dd-3 with a Boogie Mark III into a 70s Marshall 4x12 with greenbacks. I didn't know shit about gear. I could have added a fuzz and a basic overdrive and I would have been set. All I ever do these days is fart around with settings. I'm in the process of changing that around again.

Golden (fan) Boy here too! Sucks that the EQ, drive, and volume are not midi controllable too but damn, it sounds good. And using it last (as always on) in overdrive chain makes all my other ODs sound better.

Some day I’ll “get” the ODR-1, but for now all I can do is try. The Brown version is pretty cool.

I have two I built from Aion PCBs with the bass cut knob and a pedal PCB Brown Protein. I just prefer other pedals, but at the same time think Bukovac sounds epic through his. There are no magic parts in a ODR-1, so what gives

I have a Boss dc1 and a T.C Electronic delay peddle, into a Vox ac 10. Simple is the goal. Thinking about buying a cheap Epiphone Lp jr, with a single p90 My past gear obsession got in the way of practice time.
@compucorder64
@compucorder64 2 месяца назад
The cheap Epiphone Les Paul Special might be the better guitar - it's put together almost identical to the Gibson, apart from maybe the fretboard wood. And you can do Justin Ostrander's trick of going to middle position, and rolling back the neck volume pot 10-20%-ish until you hear that vowel change, to get that fattened bridge pickup sound. Which I now think is the best Les Paul sound, thanks Mr. Ostrander. You don't need to use all the positions.

My first few years of playing out I used zero pedals, or maybe sometimes a cry baby. That was the 90's though, nobody had a pedal board. If they did it was a piece of plywood with 3 maybe 4 duct taped pedals.
