JUUDOLF No.25: Scream Fortress 2023

Yup, it's THAT time of the year again... But back to doing it solo.
Heyyy, congratulations on making it this far to the video description, you're doing better than 97% of the people who watch videos on RU-vid!
Right, so here are some stats.
Total time: roughly 24 and a half hours.
Total space required for all the footages: 519GB.
Time spent absolutely furious: +20 hours.
Bots and script kiddies combined: +40 (couldn't be bothered to count them yet).
Pretty much what I was expecting. While some bot hosters have apparently been shut down in the past year, a couple of the servers were still straight up unplayable because of them. But fear not, the old feelings of pent up frustration as well as the fresh anger were with me!
That's why I also decided to straight up not record myself so I could just vent out the rage instead of trying to keep a pokerface. Vast majority of my time was straight up BAD.
Yes, I did try to have fun but boy howdy, how history keeps repeating itself... Don't worry, you'll get to see it all soon as I process the session footages. This time, one video per contract! That should give you lot your TF2 fix for a while...
Also yes, the "new and shiny" Zombie Infestation mode was mostly garbage. Either the zombies can easily just swarm you or the map has rooftops you can camp on with zero issues once you get the hang of it. And if the map has open areas, just rocket or stickyjump away before the zombies get to you.
Try to enjoy this one, it'll be a while until the next time I play this pile of frustration again... I'll get back to enjoying other games now.

Zombie infection may have its issues but in my opinion it’s one of the coolest things to happen to the game in a long time. Mannpower was weird, clunky, and unintuitive but I think VSH and ZI are the best additions to the game since MvM

ZI was another fluster cluck right after Saxton Hale. Another game mode that was released basically untested so the makers of it had to run back in and hotfix some of the worst bugs, which took mere days if not hours to be discorvered by the players. How had they not realized the balancing issues and the collection of bugs known as "zombie Demo?" He was just a mess. If you activated the charge while jumping, you could keep walking around before the dash happened. And it's not like this was a new gamemode, they could've just gone the full mile and called it "Halo: Zombie" instead. And come to think of it, ZI is even worse than VSH because you won't be able to play it on official servers until the next Scream Fortress.

I just read the description, and…I’m going to say this now since…well, I feel it needs to be said. You don’t need to torture yourself like this for our sakes if it’s not fun anymore. I would rather you had fun with a game and made a video on it that you are proud of, than suffer in silence just to satisfy the people who want more TF2. I cannot stress enough: you are not obligated to come back to Scream Fortress every year if it’s this much pain.

The Fortress-heads, my viewers and even the RU-vid algorithm disagree with your statement. Torment and molten rage are the only things people enjoy because it's not them who have to go through such emotions.

@@JUUDOLF People enjoy watching other people play their favorite game. It's as simple as that and has absolutely nothing to do with ''torment and molten rage'' lmao. All of your most popular videos are TF2 and a large majority of your subscribers came from them, so don't start acting surprised when your views drop and you receive comments requesting more tf2. It's not the algorithm being rigged against you. Nobody is forcing you to do anything, this is your channel so stick to doing videos you enjoy.

People just want content, they don't give a flying f*ck about what I try to tell them. It's obvious that "my fans" are just Fortress-heads who don't want to (if even know how to) listen. And RU-vid doesn't recommend my videos to anyone, not even my subscribers see my new videos. People just stumble to my videos these days.

@JUUDOLF Correct, people just want content. Welcome to being a youtuber. You're far from the only creator suffering from this. And no offense but your new videos just don't stand out enough, title and thumbnail wise, to be recommended and clicked. There is so much competition these days and if you want to branch out to something new then you're gonna have to win over a new audience that wants to see Warframe for example. Your viewers want TF2 because that is what your channel is known for. That is the standard you set ages ago so that is what your viewers want. So if you want to move on from the game then just ignore them and focus on making the new stuff really stand out. That is what the algorithm wants.

Halloween and Smissmas have pretty much become the only times I play TF2 just because of the aesthetic and Vibes I definitely relate to that "last played , December 2022" feel (Side note : a thank you for making this even though you didn't like it, as long as you're still Variety content I'm glad to see you back once in a while)

Glad you're not wasting time with the bonuses anymore. I did that myself for a while but they just added too many maps. (Not to mention with the same bonuses of pumpkin bomb kills, you have to get well over 120 of them if you want all the bonuses now which is just retarded.) Now, bonuses are just used to complete contracts a bit faster, or something to do on your favorite maps. Side note regarding cheeky bonuses which you can finish quickly like on helltower, on some player destruction maps you can drop the souls/collectables you have and pick them back up which increases your bonus count which helps finish the contract just a bit faster. Also, Natasha slow down counts for killing players stunned by ghosts on Harvest. Additionally jumping down the pit in Monser Bash will give you crits an uber upon exiting along with a super spell. Abuse that with minifi on solider to rain down infinite carnage for an easy one round contract next year. Furthermore, bots have to take a bit of time to update all of them manually so the best way to avoid bots is to play on peak hours and on day one to rush contracts as fast as possible as soon as the update drops. Anyways, glad you're still dropping by yearly for a bit of contract chaos. May your Subs be many and your bots be few.

Regarding the sentry not shooting, that's just a base tf2 bug, if a sentry is underwater, partially or entirely a sentry can't see or shoot things that have even a pixel of their collision box out of the water. The sentry just can't see through the water and the sentry's line of sight starts on the ground and has to see the top of the enemy they're shooting at. So thusly even if just the base of a sentry is in an inch of water it can't see jack shit.

Please just stop playing, man. It's clear from the description that you're not enjoying yourself, so I just don't understand why you keep coming back to this game when you already know how you'll feel. Is it for views? Is it to justify the hours you already have in the game, to prove to yourself that it was time well spent? I dunno what it is, but your insistence on playing isn’t appealing when you're so insufferably cynical about it. You have all the power to actually be happy, but you choose not to. At some point, it isn’t on the game anymore. It's on you.

at 11:58, something to note is sentries won't shoot at people if they are on the opposite side of water, So a sentry gun underwater won;t shoot a guy if he's not also below the water. Maybe that's got something to do with what happened? Or maybe just bad map designing.

Can't wait for this garbage vscript slop to become the new norm for all future updates. by 2030 tf2 will have 70+ gamemodes to choose from and all of them will be shit like the Zombie Infestation. There's already some Krampus Boss for Christmas that's clearly gonna win, and it's just going to take over with the repeat like every update to come. Update Launches, The Vscript mode doesn't work on release and takes 1-3 days to be patched before it's playable. It gets metaslaved to hell and despite any 'balancing' by the creators, it won't be fun with people tryharding. Rinse and repeat. I want them to announce the game's death at this point so they have an excuse to make TF3 or something. I want my TF2 back from like 2013.

@@andyfriederichsen It's fun because it's something that's new, being only the second vscript mode added, and being something that isn't new. VSH has existed for years, and Zombie Infection has existed in other games forever and was way less meta heavy. People who tryhard in it ruin it immensely.

This update was such a letdown for me. Not near as many cosmetic bangers as Winter 2022 or Summer 2023, none of these maps are sticking around in the normal rotation, and no War Paint case to follow-up the absolute *banger* of Summer 2023.

About getting Buzz halloween cosmetic for engi… Since halloween item transmutes have been added to the game, I’ve completed 52 transmutes which is about 156 halloween items from contracts i’ve been trading up, just to get Chicken Kiev. It has been like 5-6 years and still I don’t have it…

If you are really tired of TF2, I strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the Team Fortress 2 Classic mod, Knockout chat Custom Weapons servers, Halloween has started there at the moment, maps that are not in TF2 and 13 new guns have been added
