Juvenile Delinquency is one of the most important problems which has attracted the attention of Sociologists, Social Workers and Law People.
Delinquency is a kind of abnormality Crimes committed by Young age Criminals.
MEANING:
As per Section 2(K) of Juvenile Justice ( Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000
‘Juvenile’ or ‘Child’ means a person who has not completed Eighteen years of age.
Delinquency- When an individual deviates from the normal causes of Social Life.
DEFINATIONS:
According to “Fried Lander”
“ Delinquency in a Juvenile misconduct that might be dealt with under Law”
According to “C.B Memoria”
“ Juvenile Delinquency may be used to cover any trial of deviant behavior of Children which violates normative rules understanding expectation of Social System”
CHARACTERISTICS:
1.Delinquency is more among the Boys than among Girls:- as per the available data girls commits less delinquency than boys. In 1994- 2017, 203 Juveniles apprehended under and other types of crime only 9.5% are girls.
2. Juvenile is more pronounced in Urban Areas:- Crime Data relating to 23 Metropolitan cities in India reveal that out of 362 Juvenile Delinquency committed in these cities under Indian Penal Code,1860 in the year 1994 about 14 were committed in 7 cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, and Nagpur
3. Early Adolescent period (12-16 year) is more Prone to Juvenile Delinquency
4. Children living with parents and guardians are found to be more involved in Juvenile Delinquency
5. Poor economic and Educational background

CAUSES:
1.Social Causes: like, Bad Company, Social suggest ability, Delinquency areas
2.Family and Peer Groups: like, Family Environment, Broken Family, Family Tension, Parental Rejection, Family Economic situation
3.Psychological Causes: like, Mental conflicts, Motion pictures, Fear, Lack of self control, Emotional conflict, Feeling insecurity
4.Biological Causes: like, Adolescent instability, Early sex experiences, Vocational dissatisfaction, Physical conditions
5.Economic Causes: like, Poor recreation, Poverty, Beggary
6. Educational Causes
PREVENTIVE MEASURES:
1.Creating and inspiring a term of work of private and public agencies devoted to preventive work
2.Educating of the Family so, that parents give proper attention to their young children
3.Improving social environment like, Slum areas, Busy market place, Gambling centres, to prevent children to get polluted
4.Giving proper assistance to under privilege children to build in them Good character and law following attitude
5.Adopting various means of propaganda such as radio movies, to make children realise the importance of law and discipline in their life
6.Establishing and improving the school
