Looks like it'll work off 5V 1A input even when the battery is flat. I don't recommend doing this and this isn't how I normally operate the radio, but just in case you wanted to know.
A bit hard to judge from video, but yes it's a lot louder (and resonant) than my old Sangean which has a smaller speaker & body. I generally don't need to set it to maximum for when I'm in the shower whereas I used to struggle to hear some newsreaders/interviewees with the Sangean at max. Measuring with the Sound Meter (com.bti.soundMeter) app on a Pixel 6a, it's around 50dB (~1m away) on both News Radio and Radio National at max volume. Triple J of course is much louder. So while this radio doesn't have the features or punch as a proper desktop radio, I think it's still very good for its size and price.
@@lollycopter I wonder if it will get much interference where I live or struggle to pick up channels as I'm in bayside melbourne pretty close to the city, I have only seen one bad review of someone not being able to get stations and that review was on the big w website.
