This is the projector I plan on purchasing when I build my home theater. Can’t wait.

Great review Rob, but why would you use a textured surface with this projector? The close-up image you show in this video really shows how significant the texturing really is. By using a surface such as this you are distorting the pixel geometry and getting less than 4k, let alone 8k shift resolution, regardless of how the manufacturer may advertise it. At least if you think it looks great on that surface, it will really look amazing on a proper 4k+ projection surface.

I remember a time when jvc projectors were affordable and you could buy an entry level projector for < 5K. Those days are long gone. Great review though.

which is exactly why companies like epson have capitalized on serving the 2-4k market. you get great value for an affordable price. but if you want to have better, you have to spend multiples more which is a bummer.

@@aaromon43 the new Epsons cost a lot for an LCD. I got my TW9400 for roughly 2300$ a while ago. Now the LS12000 is 5000$ just because it has a laser. No improve in native contrast, no more 3D, no iris, no dynamic tone mapping, just a laser and some extra lumens and the price is more than double.

@@aaromon43 there are still affordable ones but jvc are above the rest in blacks and contrast and that costs

I ended up getting Optoma UHZ65LV for 4400$ shipped + VAT. It has 5000 ANSI lumens and a dynamic black option that dims the laser in dark scenes. Also it is a 0.66 DMD for better contrast and blacks. Also the picture is razor sharp. Has 3D that works well. highly recommend it. I combine it with a 120 inches grey 0.8 gain screen and have zero complaints about black levels.

JVC and Sony released New Laser Projectors, but that is nonsense....... Why? Big disadvantage of LCOS Panel is lifespan. The company say that ELCOS panel is almost permanent - yes The color of ELCOS panel does not degrade by usage but the black level. If you buy new Sony and JVC projector, the black level is exceptional, but after using 2500 hours it begins degrading and after 3500 hour it became grey. (I returned many used LCOS projector because the black level. - All projector review sites only review new projector not used) Even Laser light is almost permanent, they still use same LCOS panel. You will use well only 2-3000 hours and will become junk. Also, this is a 3-panel projector, which means that while the colors are bright, it's virtually impossible to accurately align the 3 panels. No matter how much increase the picture quality to 4k, 8k, the slightest panel mismatch will degrade the picture quality and leave colored shadows on the outer parts of the object. (The only projectors that can accurately shoot 3 colors to a single point are 1-chip DLP projectors). So I never buy LCD (degrade color after 2500 hour) and LCOS projector even they are better color saturation.

Hi, Rob. Thanks for the video. Curious, how did the fan noise compare to a 6050UB, at its various output levels?
@ProjectorCentralUSA
@ProjectorCentralUSA 2 года назад
From a standpoint of ratings generated with the industry-standard multi-point lab measurement (ISO21118 spec), the Epson in low power is spec'd at 20 dB noise, while the NZ7 is spec'd at 24dBA. Our written reviews usually contain real-world fan noise measured casually; you can find it in the Measurements section at the end. For this projector we measured 37.1 dBA from five feet in front of and slightly below the projector, more or less simulating a viewer sitting below and in front of a ceiling mount. I don't have numbers for the Epson, but I gather you could add 3-4 dB based on the spec sheet.

@@ryanfromtexas84 The HU810 and some other projectors that have a built-in streaming platform have ARC or eARC to facilitate sending digital audio from the projector's apps back to a sound system. With no built-in streaming on the NZ7 there's no need for it.

You can find specs here: www.projectorcentral.com/JVC-DLA-NZ7.htm Max rated image size is 200 inches, though it's not a powerhouse projector and I'd probably recommend going smaller to retain as much peak brightness for HDR highlights as possible.

Thats one big advertisement, how about covering the dust blop issues and bright corner/ black uniformity issues, and tell whats the calibrated lumen light output, also some of these pre production units was way better than the later production units, so where is your measured on off and ansi contrast, one would think you made a living from selling JVC projectors, todays experience with these models should you think about getting 3 random samples of the same model and document the huge sample tolerances, like typical 50 to 75% contrast loss in the corners, how the gamma from factory has the 1-2% ire near black typically elevated around 200% measuring a power gamma, that wash out dark scenes but also help hide the bright corners by lowering experienced contrast. Would be very useful if you could get JVC to comment on what kind of tolerances they apply on specs and black and white uniformity, and what settings these specs are supposed to be reached. Reviews should be unbiased and objective, this is the exact opposite.

would u take a NZ7 or a NX7?
@ProjectorCentralUSA
@ProjectorCentralUSA 2 года назад
This is an interesting question because of two key factors, one being rated contrast ratio and the other being longevity. You would need an NZ8 to get the equivalent rated contrast of the NX7. And although you will replace lamps several times (at considerable cost) before reaching the 20,000 hour life of the NZ models, the reality is that there's nothing to suggest you can't keep it going for much longer than 20,000 hours as long as you keep replacing lamps.
