This reminds of my first deck, a pioneer CTF-500 purchased new in '79. Had that for a year then I bought a technics RSM 45, full logic control, nice deck. Unfortunately, a flood took it out last year 😪. Great work as usual Trevor 👍
I guess new plastic wheels could be 3D-printed if you could get the design software. The playback head certainly needed replacing. You did a great job dismantling and cleaning the rubber wheels
It would be worth a try. 3D printed or UV resin could be printed although I fear they might not have the strength or long life. I think the best route would be to machine brass on a mini lathe, those parts would last forever
@@1873Winchester As far as i know, if you don't have a very high end 3d printer, and even there to some extend, things you print with them arent very accurate or stress proof. You might print 20 copies and one might fit, kinda. It's often better to try to fix what you have. You could also try to source the replacement part making out to guys who print things for you on their professional machines, or even injection mold replicate them, but that could be costy and you have to give the right dimensions of the broken part, or it might not fit again. Sadly its not as easy as "just 3d print it" :/
Nice job Trevor. I work at restoring old cassette decks too and I have a KD-10 to get to at some point. I had not heard of "boiling" belts before. How hot was your microwave and how long did you leave the belt in there? Also, what was the brand and type of the grease in the syringe?
I have a kd 10 and kd 25 and a kda 50 and a kda 55 are the second 2 higher end kda 50 and 55 I noticed that there is no ac primary line fuse for over current protection so i put one in is that a good idea
Good afternoon. Thank you for the video. I have the same deck. Recently, the engine began to start only after spinning up manually. Please tell me how to fix this. Thank you. I wrote through a translator.
I have the JVC KD-10, and I boiled the belt and got it back on but after reassembling the whole unit now my levels are peaking and I’m getting some kind of helicopter noise. I think it’s related to the record feature, can you help?
