This could have several causes maybe the heads were not clean enough maybe the sensitivity of this tape was too low for the BEST tuning system to deal with. maybe the head alignment wasn't good enough and therefor too little output for the best tuning system .. You could try to increase the basic recording level sensitivity l/r under the cover so that it reaches the parameters of the BEST systeem But first of all , you would have to check your tape , see if the tracks are not damaged
The tape is brand new, never used before. I used this tape on purpose, to demonstrate how the BEST mechanism behaves when it can't calibrate the tape. It's a terrible quality tape. It's so bad that most cassette decks with automatic or manual calibration systems are unable to tune to this tape.
Maybe it is... ;-) The styling of the font is so bad that I can't even tell if it's ACME or ALME. It's just one of a hundred different brands these poor quality cassette tapes were sold with. I used this very bad tape to show how the BEST mechanism behaves when it's unable to calibrate the tape.
